Supported Applications

The Omega PFT Series Vacuum and Pressure Feedthroughs are designed to penetrate pressure barriers, vacuum chambers, or bulkheads with electrical conductors while maintaining a tight pressure seal. These pre-assembled hermetic units eliminate the need to fasten wires to conventional connectors or solder to glass-to-metal seals.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within a process temperature range of -40 to 121°C (-40 to 250°F). The PFTCC multi-pin connector models feature a stainless steel housing. Quality control testing includes a Hipot test, insulation resistance check, and helium leak verification with a rate less than 1 x 10^-8 std cc/sec He. Additional performance metrics include an outgassing specification of <0.003% volatile condensable materials and <0.34% weight loss when sampled at 125°C with a cold surface at 25°C.

Configuration Options

The PFT Series encompasses multiple configurations including NPT plugs, NPT couples, face seals, and multi-pin connectors (PFTCC). The series supports various wire types and pair counts:

• PFT2NPT: ½" NPT Plugs with Copper or Thermocouple wires (J, E, T, K) in 1, 2, or 4 pairs.
• PFT2CPL: ½" NPT Couples with Copper or Thermocouple wires (J, E, T, K) in 2 or 4 pairs.
• PFTFS: Hermetic Face Seals available with 8 pairs of Copper or Thermocouple wire (J, E, T, K).
• PFTCC: Multi-Pin Connectors offering 12 pin pairs (24 pins total) in materials including CU, J, E, T, and K.

Wetted materials across the series include epoxy resin bodies, brass housings, stainless steel fittings or housing (PFTFS/PFTCC), nitrile O-rings (PFTFS), copper wire, thermocouple wire, and 20 AWG solid Teflon® insulated wire with a length of 48" on both sides.

Key Product Differences

The PFT Series is differentiated by connection style and pressure rating. The NPT plug (PFT2NPT), NPT couple (PFT2CPL), and multi-pin connector (PFTCC) configurations have a maximum pressure of 120 PSI. The face seal configuration (PFTFS) supports up to 2000 PSI, with the high-pressure side located at the face seal and the low-pressure side at the thread or jam nut.

Model numbering follows specific patterns: PFTCC models are designated as <MODEL NO.> - <Pins Mat'l> - <Pins (Pairs)>, such as PFTCC-12U. The series offers a nominal length of 4.60" with a 1 ¼-18 thread for the PFTCC multi-pin connector, while other variants like PFT2NPT and PFTFS feature an overall length of 48".
