Supported Applications

The ACI eSENSE Room series monitors carbon dioxide (CO₂) levels in school and office type environments, serving as an indicator of overall indoor air quality. The ESENSE-FAI model is designed for residential and commercial spaces including schools, office buildings, auditoriums, gymnasiums, shopping malls, and theaters. These transmitters are utilized with Building Automation or Demand Control Ventilation systems to manage climate control.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series employs single beam Non-dispersive Infrared (NDIR) sensing technology. Standard measurement ranges cover 0 to 2000 ppm, with extended CO₂ ranges up to 10,000 ppm available via factory set or SADK Calibration Kit configuration. Accuracy is specified as ±30 ppm and ±3% of reading for the standard range; Extended Range Accuracy >2,000 PPM is +/− 30 ppm and +/- 5% of reading. Repeatability is listed at ±20 ppm ±1% of measured value.

Operating conditions require an ambient temperature between 32°F to 122°F (0°C to 50°C) with relative humidity from 0 – 95% RH Non-condensing. The sensor life exceeds 15 years in normal Indoor Air Quality applications, excluding corrosive environments. Response time is <10 seconds @ 30 cc/min flow rate and < 3 minutes diffusion time.

Accuracy definitions require a minimum of three (3) ABC periods (1 period = 8 days) of continuous operation. The Senseair ABC algorithm provides Automatic Baseline Correction, though building CO₂ levels must drop to 400 ppm some time during the week for this function; if occupied 24 hrs/day, ABC must be turned off.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between standard transmitters and models with integrated displays or audible alarms. The ESENSE-R model provides dual analog outputs without a display, while the ESENSE-R-LCD adds a 4-digit LCD screen showing CO₂ values in ppm. The ESENSE II FAI DISP variant includes an acoustic alarm that activates when CO₂ exceeds 1400 ppm and can be silenced for 30 minutes via a push button.

Storage temperature ranges differ by model: the standard ESENSE-R supports -40 to 158°F (-40 to 70°C), whereas the ESENSE-R-LCD is rated for -4 to 122°F (-20 to 50°C). Weight varies slightly, with the ESENSE-R at 0.294 lbs (0.133 kg) and the LCD-equipped models at 0.304 lbs (0.138 kg).
