Supported Applications

The Omega DPG3500 Series consists of battery-powered digital pressure gauges designed for measuring gauge, absolute, and vacuum pressures. These compact units feature Min/Max reading capture functions and one-touch zeroing capabilities. The series is engineered with 316 SS wetted parts to ensure compatibility with most liquids and gases.

Applications include general process monitoring where a portable or fixed digital readout of pressure conditions is required. Models are available in configurations suitable for environments requiring protection against water ingress, specifically the DPG3500 models housed in NEMA 4X (IP66) enclosures.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series delivers an accuracy of ±0.25% FS with a combined linearity, hysteresis, and repeatability specification of ±1 least significant digit. The display updates at a nominal rate of 3 readings per second.

  • Operating Temperature: -4 to 185°F (-20 to 85°C)
  • Storage Temperature: -40 to 95°C (-40 to 203°F)
  • Burst Pressure: 4x sensor pressure rating or 10,000 psi, whichever is less
  • Overpressure Rating: 2x sensor pressure range (e.g., 5000 psig max for the 3000 psig range; 7500 psig max for the 5000 psig range)

The gauges are powered by two 'AA' alkaline batteries, providing approximately 2000 hours of operation (150 to 1500 hours for DPG5600 models with backlighting). A standard 5-minute auto shut-off circuit conserves battery life; an on/off button option is available.

Measurement Ranges and Units

The series supports a wide envelope of pressure ranges, including:

  • Gauge Pressure (psig): 0 to 3.000 psig through 0 to 5000 psig
  • Absolute Pressure (psia/torr abs): Ranges such as 15.00-0 psi absolute, 760.0-0 torr absolute, and up to 30.00-0 psi absolute
  • Vacuum: 0 to 30.0 inHg vac
  • Differential/Vac-to-Gauge: -30.0 inHg vac to 15.00 psig, up to -30.0 inHg vac to 200.0 psig
  • Liquid Column (inH₂O): 0 to 85.0 inches of water and 0 to 140.0 inches of water
  • Metric: Ranges up to 0-14.00 barg

Selectable units for models manufactured after 12-23-2012 include psig, inHg, inH₂O, oz/in², g/cm², mmHg, torr, mbar, cmH₂O, mmH₂O, ftH₂O, kPa, MPa, bar, kg/cm², and atm.

Process Connection

All models feature a ¼ MNPT pressure/vacuum fitting. The wetted materials are specified as 316 SS (stainless steel).

Configuration Options

The DPG series family encompasses three primary housing configurations, with the DPG3500 specifically designated for NEMA 4X protection.

  • Housing Materials:
    • DPG3500 Series: ABS/polycarbonate case rated NEMA 4X (IP66) with a rear gasket and polycarbonate label. Dimensions are approximately 89 W x 76 H x 51 mm D.
    • DPG5500/5600 Series: Extruded aluminum case, light gray epoxy powder coated (or black/gold for specific models), with front and rear gaskets. Dimensions are approximately 86 W x 73 H x 42 mm D.
  • Display Options:
    • Standard non-backlit LCD (DPG5500, DPG3500)
    • Optional backlit display available on aluminum case models (DPG5600 series) and specified for other configurations.
  • Control Functions:
    • Pushbutton interface supports On, Zero, Hi Reading capture, Lo Reading capture, Normal Read, Clear Hi/Lo, and Off functions.
    • Internal controls allow for non-interactive zero, span, and linearity adjustments (±10% range).

The series supports over 140 possible pressure units. Factory scaling in other engineering units is available upon consultation.

Differences within the family are defined by housing material, enclosure rating, and display features:

  • DPG3500 Series: Features an ABS/polycarbonate NEMA 4X (IP66) case. This series is distinct for its rugged plastic construction designed to meet the specified ingress protection.
  • DPG5500 Series: Utilizes an extruded aluminum case with epoxy powder coating. These models are available without backlighting as standard.
  • DPG5600 Series: Identical to the DPG5500 in housing (extruded aluminum) but includes a backlit display option, which impacts battery life specifications (150 to 1500 hours).

All series share the same measurement technology, accuracy class of ±0.25% FS, and process connection type.
