Supported Applications

The Miljoco V20 Series consists of remote reading vapor-actuated dial thermometers designed for temperature measurement in applications requiring a progressive scale unaffected by ambient temperature variations along the tube system. The series is explicitly noted for use in food service industry applications, with specific configurations meeting NSF requirements. Additionally, materials such as 316 stainless steel capillary tubing are offered for industrial processing or other environments where the instrument may be exposed to corrosive or caustic fluids.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The V20 Series operates within an ambient temperature range of -40 to 140°F (-40 to 60°C). Accuracy is specified as ±One scale division. The measurement envelope spans from -40 to 20°C up to 200 to 450°F, with specific ranges available in °F only, °C only, or dual-scale configurations (°F/C). Standard sensing bulbs are nickel-plated copper with a diameter of Ø 7/16". For systems exceeding 1200", bulb lengths and system configuration require consultation with the factory.

Key Performance Parameters

  • Ambient Temperature: -40 to 140°F (-40 to 60°C)
  • Accuracy: ±One scale division
  • Sensing Bulb Diameter (Standard): Ø 7/16" nickel-plated copper
  • Bourdon Tube Material: Phosphor Bronze
  • Movement: Brass with precision gearing

Configuration Options

The series offers extensive configurability across case styles, dial sizes, tube systems, and optional features to accommodate diverse installation requirements.

Housing and Dial Configurations

  • Dial Sizes: 2", 2½", and 3½" available.
  • Case Materials: 300 series stainless steel, ABS plastic in gray (other colors available), or aluminum options depending on the model family.
  • Mounting Styles: Flush mount with front flange cases and flush mount U-clamp cases. Outlet orientations include rear and lower positions.
  • Lens Types: Polycarbonate, offered as press-in (2" only) or threaded styles.

Tube Systems and Connections

The series supports various tube system codes defining the capillary tubing material, connection type, and sensing bulb materials. Standard capillary tubing is 60" tin-plated copper (Ø 0.062). Available configurations include:

  • Capillary Materials: Tin plated copper, PVC coated copper, bronze braided copper, smooth 316SS, and armored 316SS.
  • Connection Types: Plain connection, ½" NPT Union, ½" NPT Union with extension, or ½" NPT Thermowell.
  • Sensing Bulb Materials: Nickel-plated copper (standard) or 316SS for specific tube system codes.

Optional Features and Accessories

The following options are available to enhance protection, durability, or environmental suitability:

  • Strain Relief: Plastic boot at the case (HS) or stainless steel round wire at the bulb end (TS).
  • Silicone Dampening (SD): Applied to the movement mechanism for vibration-prone applications.
  • Lens O-Ring (WP): Installed on threaded lenses to prevent moisture ingress from the front.
  • Case Sealant (RTV): Prevents moisture entry at the rear connection and fogging in refrigeration environments.
  • Weep Hole (WH): Drain hole for outdoor applications where moisture may collect.
  • Over Range Protection (OR): Standard on below-ambient ranges; available as an option for cross-ambient and above-ambient ranges upon consultation.
  • Thermowells: Available in brass or 316SS with various immersion lengths (2.25", 4.25", 6.25") and process connections (½" NPT, ¾" NPT).

Key Product Differences

The V20 Series is distinguished by specific model families corresponding to case style and dial size. Flush mount front flange cases include models such as the V2036 (2", SS, rear outlet) and V3537L (3½", SS, lower outlet). The flush mount U-clamp family includes variants like the V2066 (2", SS, rear outlet) and V2567L (2½", SS, lower outlet).

Material variations are driven by the selected tube system code. For instance, codes 12 through 18 denote a ½" NPT Union connection with varying capillary materials ranging from tin-plated copper to armored 316SS, while codes 02 through 05 represent plain connections. The series also offers thermowell options (codes 22–28) which integrate the sensing element into a removable well for process isolation.

Range selection is defined by specific range codes (e.g., Code 20 for -40 to 65°F/C, Code 71 for 200 to 450°F/C). The scale division and figure markings vary by code; for example, the -40 to 65°C range features a °C scale with figures every 10 divisions of 1, while the 30 to 300°F range uses figures every 20 divisions of 5.
