Supported Applications
The ACI Platinum RTD Outdoor Air series is a single-point temperature sensor designed for use with electronic controllers in commercial heating and cooling building management systems. The sensors are intended for outdoor mounting to monitor ambient air conditions.
- Commercial HVAC control loops requiring precise outside air measurement.
- Building automation systems (BAS) utilizing 2-wire or 3-wire RTD inputs.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates within a temperature range of -40 to 70°C (-40 to 158°F), with an identical storage temperature range. It is rated for operating humidity from 10 to 100% RH, condensing. The sensing element follows the DIN EN 60751 (IEC 751) standard with a temperature coefficient of 3850 ppm/°C.
- Accuracy: Class A tolerance defined by +/- °C = (0.15°C + (0.002 * |t|)), where |t| is the absolute value of Temperature above or below 0°C in °C. Specific points include +/- 0.23°C (+/- 0.414°F) at -40°C (-40°F), +/- 0.15°C (+/- 0.27°F) at 0°C (32°F), and +/- 0.29°C (+/- 0.53°F) at 70°C (158°F).
- Response Time: 25 Seconds nominal for a 63% step change.
- Sensor Stability: +/- 0.03% after 1000 Hours @ 300°C (572°F).
Configuration Options
The series supports multiple sensor resistances, wire configurations, and enclosure types to accommodate various installation environments.
Sensor Elements & Outputs
- Nominal Resistance: 100 Ohms (A/100 Series) or 1 KΩ (A/1K Series).
- Wire Configuration: Two-wire (non-polarity sensitive) or Three-wire (polarity sensitive). The three-wire option compensates for external lead wire resistance.
- Lead Wires: 14" (35.6 cm) length, 22 AWG (0.65 mm), Silver Plated Copper conductors with Etched PTFE Teflon colored insulation rated MIL-W-16878/4 (Type E).
Housing & Enclosures
Three enclosure styles are available, each with specific material and rating characteristics:
- Euro (-EH): PC/ASA Plastic with UV Protectant; UL94-V0 flammability rating. Operating range -40 to 88°C (-40 to 190°F).
- NEMA 4X (-4X): Polystyrene Plastic; UL94-V2 flammability rating, NEMA 4X (IP66). Operating range -40 to 70°C (-40 to 158°F).
- Bell Box (-BB): Aluminum; NEMA 3R. Operating range -40 to 121°C (-40 to 250°F).
Approvals & Options
The series carries CE, RoHS2, and WEEE approvals. Optional NIST Certificates (3 Points) are available for specific configurations.
Key Product Differences
Variants differ primarily by sensor resistance value, wire count, and enclosure material/rating:
- The A/100 series provides a 100 Ohm nominal output at 0°C (32°F), while the A/1K series provides a 1 KΩ nominal output.
- Two-wire models are non-polarity sensitive; three-wire models are polarity sensitive and intended for systems requiring lead resistance compensation.
- The Euro (-EH) enclosure features a twist-off cover with a water-tight cord grip. The NEMA 4X (-4X) is a weatherproof plastic housing, while the Bell Box (-BB) utilizes an aluminum construction.
