Supported Applications

The Omega RPMC Series consists of miniature parallel pneumatic grippers designed for clean room and harsh environments. These units are engineered with corrosion-resistant materials suitable for resistance to de-ionized water or use in FDA and medical parts handling applications.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within a pressure range of 3 to 7 bar (40 to 100 psi) using dry filtered air with a filtration rating of 40 micron or better. Ambient operating temperatures span -35 to 80°C (-30 to 180°F) for standard seals and -30 to 120°C (-20 to 250°F) when configured with Viton® seals.

Performance specifications include an accuracy of ±0.05 mm (±0.002") and repeatability of ±0.03 mm (±0.001"). The actuation time is listed as 0.10 sec, with a total rated grip force of 36 N (8 lb) at 7 bar (100 psi). Typical operation life extends up to 5 million cycles.

Configuration Options

The RPMC Series is available in three sizes: RPMC-1M, RPMC-2M, and RPMC-3M. Each model features a one-piece lightweight aluminum body with hard-coat anodize 60 RC with PTFE impregnation.

Model Dimensions and Stroke

  • RPMC-1M: Length: 23 mm (0.89 in), Depth: 16 mm (0.630 in), Height: 23 mm (0.92 in); Stroke: 3.2 mm (0.13")
  • RPMC-2M: Length: 24 mm (0.94 in), Depth: 16 mm (0.630 in), Height: 25 mm (0.98 in); Stroke: 4.8 mm (0.19")
  • RPMC-3M: Length: 30 mm (1.16 in), Depth: 16 mm (0.630 in), Height: 25 mm (0.98 in); Stroke: 6.3 mm (0.25")

Loading Capacity and Weight

Across all models, the maximum static tensile and compressive loads are 89 N (20 lbs), while dynamic limits for both parameters are 31 N (7 lbs). Maximum moment capacities vary by axis: Mx is 1 Nm (12"/lbs) static / 0.5 Nm (4"/lbs) dynamic; My is 2 Nm (15"/lbs) static / 0.6 Nm (5"/lbs) dynamic; and Mz is 1 Nm (12"/lbs) static / 0.5 Nm (4"/lbs) dynamic.

Weights range from 0.024 Kg (0.052 lb) for the RPMC-1M to 0.034 Kg (0.074 lb) for the RPMC-3M.

Accessories and Maintenance

The series supports top manifold mounting, allowing units to be grouped in close arrays. Available accessories include:

  • SLKT-121: Standard seal repair kit
  • SLKT-143V: Top air port manifold seal kit (FKM only)

A 4-way, 2-position valve is required to actuate the gripper.

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction between RPMC-1M, RPMC-2M, and RPMC-3M models lies in their physical dimensions and stroke lengths. While grip force, accuracy, repeatability, pressure range, actuation time, and loading capacities remain consistent across the series, displacement varies: 0.13 cm³ (0.008"³) for RPMC-1M, 0.20 cm³ (0.012"³) for RPMC-2M, and 0.25 cm³ (0.015"³) for RPMC-3M.
