Supported Applications
The ACI Nickel Room Series consists of temperature sensors designed for indoor environmental monitoring. These non-polarity, non-position sensitive devices are intended for mounting on walls or junction boxes to provide ambient air temperature sensing via a nickel RTD element.
Operating Conditions & Performance
Sensors operate within an ambient range of 1.5 °C to 50 °C (35 °F to 122 °F) and support storage temperatures from -40 °C to 65 °C (-40 °F to 149 °F). The series is rated for humidity levels between 10 % and 95 % RH, non-condensing. Accuracy specifications for the nickel sensor element are documented as +/- 0.4 °C (+/-0.72 °F) @ 0 °C (32 °F), +/- 0.17 °C (+/-0.34 °F) @ 21.1 °C (70 °F), and +/- 0.56 °C (+/-1.00 °F) @ 54.4 °C (130 °F). The sensor output is nominal at 1 KΩ @ 21.1 °C (70 °F).
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable housings, communication options, and control features to accommodate specific installation requirements.
- Housing Styles: Available in "R" enclosures (ABS Plastic, Beige, UL94-HB) or "R2" enclosures (ABS Plastic, White, UL94-HB). Dimensions are 69.85 mm (2.75 in) width by 114.30 mm (4.50 in) height with a depth of 28.55 mm (1.12 in).
- Configuration Options: Models include Room only, Room with Override (O), Room with Set Point (S), and combinations such as RSO or R2SO.
- Communication Jacks: Optional modular connectors include RJ4 (4 Pin 4 Conductor RJ9/RJ10/RJ22 style), RJ6 (6 Pin 6 Conductor RJ12 Modular Phone Connector), or a 3.5 mm (1/8 in) Stereo Jack.
- Setpoint Configuration: Field-selectable slidepots allow for direct acting or reverse acting configurations with various resistance ranges, including A09 (0 Ω to 2 kΩ) and A10 (0 Ω to 1 kΩ). Setpoint indication options include temperature ranges such as B4 (55 °F to 85 °F), C5 (COOL/WARM), or G5 (BLUE/RED for R2 Enclosure).
- Electrical Connections: Screw terminal blocks are non-polarity sensitive and accept wire sizes from 16 AWG (1.31 mm²) to 26 AWG (0.129 mm²). Terminal block torque is rated at a minimum of 0.5 Nm and maximum of 0.6 Nm.
- Accessories: A thermally-insulated backing pad (A/ROOM-FOAM-PAD) is available for mounting on solid walls to minimize thermal drafts from the wall surface.
Key Product Differences
Variants within this series differ by enclosure color and style, presence of override or setpoint functionality, communication jack type, and specific slidepot configurations. The "R" version features a beige ABS plastic housing, while the "R2" version utilizes white ABS plastic. Models designated with "O" include an Override option (default Short Thermistor; field selectable Dry Contact closure), whereas models with "S" or "SO" incorporate setpoint adjustment capabilities via internal slidepots.
