Supported Applications

The Omega OMEGALUX® OT series consists of strip heaters designed principally for convection-type air heating and clamp-on installations. These rugged, reliable units are engineered to provide heat transfer in applications requiring a flat profile with one-end diagonal terminals.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates on 120 or 240 Vac power supplies. Maximum sheath temperatures vary by material selection: iron sheaths support up to 399°C (750°F), while chrome steel sheaths are rated for a maximum of 649°C (1200°F). Power ratings span from 150 watts to 2,250 watts depending on the specific model and sheath material. The heaters feature an overall width of 1½" (3.8 cm) with lengths ranging from 7½" to 47", terminating in a terminal end measuring 0.875" (2.2 cm) wide by 0.4375" (1.1 cm) high.

Configuration Options

The OT series offers configurable options across sheath materials, dimensions, and power outputs to meet specific thermal requirements.

  • Sheath Materials: Available in rust-resisting iron or chrome steel.
  • Power Ratings: Iron sheath models range from 150 to 1,250 watts; chrome steel sheath models range from 200 to 2,250 watts.
  • Voltage Designations: Models are designated for either 120 Vac or 240 Vac. Some model numbers containing /240 are available only in that voltage.
  • Electrical Connection: Features two offset bolt terminals located at one end with a diagonal orientation.

The series holds UL Component Recognized, CSA Certified (RU), CE, SR, and VDE approvals. Additional strip heater models are available with other widths and bolt configurations beyond the standard OT-HEATER listing.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the OT series differ primarily by length, wattage density, and sheath material composition.

  • Rust-Resisting Iron Sheath: Models such as OT-715/* through OT-4312/* offer lower maximum temperatures (up to 399°C) with power ratings starting at 150 watts.
  • Chrome Steel Sheath: Models including OT-702/* through OT-4822/240 support higher operating limits up to 649°C and provide wattages from 200 to 2,250 watts.
