Supported Applications
The ACI eSENSE Outdoor Series is a carbon dioxide (CO₂) transmitter designed for outdoor environments and non-heated structures. The device utilizes Infrared (NDIR) waveguide technology with Automatic Baseline Correction (ABC) to monitor CO₂ levels in ambient air.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates within an ambient temperature range of -22°F to 115°F (-30°C to 46°C). It is rated for humidity from 0 to 95% RH (non-condensing) and features a storage temperature range of -4 to +122 °F. The standard measurement range covers 0 to 2,000 ppm CO₂ with an accuracy of ±30 ppm and ±3% of reading; extended ranges up to 10,000 ppm are available via factory set or SADK Kit with an accuracy of ±30 ppm and ±5% of reading. Repeatability is specified as ±20 ppm ±1% of measured value.
Response time (T₁/ₑ) is < 10 seconds @ 30 cc/min flow rate, or < 3 minutes diffusion time. The sensor life expectancy exceeds 15 years with no maintenance required under normal conditions. Pressure dependence affects the reading by +1.6% per 0.145 psi (1 kPa) deviation from normal pressure.
Configuration Options
The eSENSE Outdoor transmitter is housed in a Poly Carbonate enclosure with an IP65 rating and UL94V-0 flammability classification. The unit includes side ventilation breathers to support outdoor airflow and an integrated heater controlled by an inline thermostat.
- Heating System: An internal 24 VAC heater activates at temperatures of 39°F (4°C) or below to prevent ice crystal accumulation in the Optical Bench Assembly. Power consumption is <1W for the sensor and up to 10W when heating, with a maximum total power draw of 11W.
- Outputs: The device provides two analog outputs: Out 1 delivers 0-10 VDC for 0 to 2,000 ppm; Out 2 is configurable for 4-20 mA or 2-10 VDC (also covering the 0 to 2,000 ppm range). Status signals include ERROR and NOT READY states.
- Power Supply: Requires 24 VAC/VDC ±20% at 50/60 Hz. The input supports half-wave rectified power.
- Electrical Connections: Utilizes screw terminals rated for 1.5 mm² (0.00232 in²) wire, accommodating power inputs and voltage outputs.
Key Product Differences
The primary model is the ESENSE-OUTDOOR (Item # 135028), which includes the heated outdoor sensor configuration. The series supports extended CO₂ ranges up to 10,000 ppm when configured with a factory set or SADK Calibration Kit (Item # 130502). Custom calibration services are available for IP54 housings only.
Accuracy specifications require the device to complete minimum three ABC periods (where one period equals 8 days) of continuous operation. The Senseair ABC algorithm is standard, though it requires building CO₂ levels to drop to 400 ppm periodically; if a facility operates continuously without this drop, ABC must be disabled.
