Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series I2-4 Weatherproof Immersion Temperature Sensor is designed for monitoring hot and chilled water lines feeding Air Handlers and Cooling Towers. The series supports communication to standard building control systems via a choice of sensor outputs.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series I2-4 operates within a process temperature range of -32 to 240°F (-35.5 to 115.5°C). Accuracy specifications vary by sensor element type:
- Platinum RTD: ±0.6% @ 32°F (0°C)
- Nickel RTD: ±0.5°F @ 32°F (0°C)
- Balco RTD: ±0.1% @ 32°F (0°C)
- Thermistors: ±0.36°F from 32 to 158°F (0 to 70°C)
The probe features a 1/4" (6.3 mm) diameter with insertion lengths of 4" or 6". The wetted material is specified as 304 SS.
Configuration Options
Housing and Installation
The sensor utilizes a plastic housing rated Weather-Proof, featuring a 1/4 turn twist-off cover to reduce installation time. Electrical access is provided via four conduit knockouts with a diameter of ø0.896" [22.76 MM] spaced at 3-3/32" [78.74]. The housing dimensions are 3-31/32" [101.00] in diameter and 2-7/32" [56.16] in height.
Process connection is a 1/2" threaded interface designed to fit the Series IW2 thermowell. A note specifies that a Series IW2 Thermowell must be used on pressurized air and water lines to prevent leakage around the probe.
