Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series SA1100 consists of weatherproof, explosion-proof pressure switches designed to actuate one or two single pole, double throw (SPDT) snap switches in response to increasing or decreasing pressure. These devices are suitable for hazardous locations and industrial environments requiring reliable pressure monitoring and control. The series is explicitly documented for use with compatible gases or liquids.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series SA1100 features a rolling diaphragm design that maintains constant effective area to minimize friction, resulting in a minimum deadband as low as 5% of full-scale. A separate adjustment allows for higher deadbands when necessary.

• Pressure Ranges: Field-adjustable operating ranges include 10 to 150 psig (0.7 to 10 bar), 20 to 250 psig (1.4 to 17.2 bar), and 30 to 500 psig (2.0 to 34.0 bar).
• Pressure Limits: Maximum operating pressure is rated at 1200 psig (82.6 bar) with a burst protection of 3000 psi (206 bar).
• Ambient Temperature: Standard operation from -30 to 180°F (-35 to 82°C). ATEX and IECEx compliant units operate at ambient temperatures of -4 to 146°F (-20 to 63.6°C) or up to 75°C (167°F) depending on the specific certification standard cited.
• Process Temperature: Documented as -4 to 146°F (-20 to 63.6°C), with ATEX compliant process temperature limits noted at ≤63.6°C or up to 75°C in data sheet specifications.

Configuration Options

The series offers extensive configuration options for construction, wetted materials, switch types, and certifications to meet specific installation requirements.

• Housing & Enclosure: Die cast aluminum housing with textured gray polyurethane finish. Standard enclosure is weatherproof (UL-NEMA 4X) and explosion-proof (Class I, Groups B, C, D; Class II, Groups E, F, G). An optional drain fitting allows condensate removal but changes the rating to NEMA 3R.
• Wetted Materials: Pressure chamber materials include Aluminum, Brass, or 316 SS. Diaphragm and O-ring options are Buna-N or Fluorocarbon.
• Circuit (Switch) Options:
  • Snap action switch rated 15A @ 125/250/480 VAC, 1/8 HP @ 125 VAC, 1/4 HP @ 250 VAC, 1/2 A @ 125 VDC resistive, 1/4 A @ 250 VDC resistive.
  • Hermetically sealed snap action switch rated 5 A @ 125/250 VAC, 5 A resistive @ 30 VDC*.
  • Hermetically sealed snap action switch with gold contacts rated 1 A @ 125 VAC, 1 A resistive @ 30 VDC*.
• Circuit Type: SPDT or DPDT (DPDT not available with hermetically sealed HS or HG switch options).
• Process Connections: Available in 1/4" female NPT or 1/2" female NPT.
• Certifications & Options: Units are UL and CSA listed. ATEX certified construction (AT) meets CE 2813 II 2 G Ex d IIC T6 Gb standards (-20 ≤ Tamb ≤63.6°C). IECEx Certified units carry certificate IECEx DEK 11.0095 X.

Variants within the Series SA1100 are distinguished by their model number construction, which defines specific capabilities:

• Pressure Range Codes: Code 11 corresponds to 10-150 psig; code 12 to 20-250 psig; and code 13 to 30-500 psig.
• Switch Ratings: The 'E' option denotes the standard high-current snap action switch, while 'HS' indicates a hermetically sealed unit rated at 5 A @ 30 VDC resistive, and 'HG' specifies gold contacts for lower current applications (1 A).
• Certification Suffixes: Units without the 'AT' suffix are not Directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX) compliant. The 'IEC' option denotes IECEx certified construction.
• Housing Drain Option: Models with the 'DR' or 'DRAIN' option include a drain fitting, meeting NEMA 3R instead of NEMA 4X/IP66 ratings.
