Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series WD Water Detector and Sensor Tape is designed for the dependable detection of water presence, specifically targeting low conductive liquids. The system utilizes a sensing tape that attaches to the module; when liquid contacts the tape, resistance changes trigger an alarm.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates on 24 VAC or 24-30 VDC power requirements with a maximum consumption of 35 mA. The detection service is specified for conductive liquids. Electrical connections are made via screw terminals, and the unit includes a hole for 1/2" conduit.

Configuration Options

The Series WD offers configurable sensor tape lengths to accommodate different monitoring areas. Key specifications include:

  • Housing Material: Extruded aluminum enclosure.
  • Sensor Tape Dimensions: 1" (25.4 mm) wide, available in 5', 10', 15' or 25' lengths.
  • Switch Type: DPDT relay output with an electrical rating of 1 A @ 24 VAC/VDC.
  • Weight: 8 oz (.23 kg).

The sensor tape is hydrophobic, preventing liquid absorption to facilitate faster drying times and quicker return to service after a leak event. Model designations include WD for the water module, WP05 (5' / 1.52 m), TP10 (10' / 3.05 m), TP15 (15' / 4.57 m), and TP25 (25' / 7.62 m).

Key Product Differences

The series consists of the WD water module paired with specific sensor tape lengths identified by model codes WP05, TP10, TP15, and TP25. The device is not field serviceable; units requiring repair must be returned to Dwyer for authorization.

Operational notes indicate that allowing water to evaporate on its own may leave conductive residue, altering tape resistance and potentially causing false alarms over time. Additionally, grounded tape may cause detector failure.
