Supported Applications

The Series CP/CN/CT/CX CoolPoint® Vortex Shedding Flowmeter is designed for water, water/glycol mixtures, and low viscosity fluids. Because vortex shedding measurement uses no moving parts, the meters offer low maintenance and low pressure drop, which suits them to hydronic heating and cooling, chilled-water loops, and process water metering.

The series is available in 3-wire and 2-wire loop-powered versions. The 3-wire version adds a solid state relay that can be configured as an alarm or pulse output and an LED display with selectable engineering units (GPM or LPM), while an optional temperature-sensing feature lets a single meter report both flow and temperature.

Operating Conditions & Performance

Flow accuracy is ±2% FS with a repeatability of ±0.25% of reading, and the model-selectable temperature measurement is accurate to ±0.1°C. The response time is 450 ms.

• Process temperature: 2 to 99°C.
• Pressure rating: 0.7 to 20.7 bar; CP flange and CX models are rated to 20.7 bar maximum.
• Power: 10-30 VDC @ 80 mA standard, or 25 mA for the 2-wire option.
• Output: 4-20 mA, plus 100 pulses per gallon on 3-wire models (25 pulses per gallon on 2", 3", and 4").
• Enclosure rating: NEMA 4X (IP65).

Wetted materials are a 316 SS or brass flow body, a PEEK sensor, and FKM seals. Process connections are Female NPT, BSPT, or BSPP (model selectable), and connection is made through a male DC micro 5 pin connector, pigtails, or a junction box with terminal strip. The meters carry CE and ETL approvals.

Configuration Options

The family spans four series letters and a wide size range, so models differ by body style, sensing features, size, and wiring:

• Series style: CP, CN, CT, and CX builds cover different body and mounting formats, with the CT models adding temperature set point capability.
• Pipe size and flow: ranges run from 3-200 GPM (11-750 LPM) for 1/4" to 2" pipe sizes and 300-600 GPM (1136-2271 LPM) for 3" to 4" pipe sizes.
• Wiring: a 3-wire version with solid state relays, and a 2-wire loop-powered version that can operate in an intrinsically safe mode when used with an approved intrinsic safety barrier.
• Temperature set point (CT models): adjustable from 1°C up to 93°C, with a 2°C hysteresis.

Selectable material (brass or 316 SS), battery operation (CP-V8), electrical-connection style, and special options such as intrinsically safe 4-20 mA 2-wire, NIST traceable calibration, and 20:1 extended turndown further tailor each unit.

Key Product Differences

Models are configured through an ordering string of series, pipe size, battery option, material, process connection, electrical connection, output and display, orientation, and special options (for example, CP2-M1T1C1-W1). The CX line is represented by the configured meters CX8-M7C17D4E10N4 and CX8-M8C17D4E10N4.
