Supported Applications
The Omega FV500C Series (Model DY) Vortex Flowmeters are digital instruments designed for industrial flow measurement of liquids, gases, and steam. Utilizing SSP (Spectral Signal Processing) technology, the series is engineered to provide high accuracy and stability in these applications while avoiding multiphase flow and sticky fluids.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The FV500C Series delivers measurement performance with an accuracy of ±0.75% of Reading for liquids, ±1% of Reading for gas and steam, and repeatability of ±0.2% of Reading. For Multi-Variable Type configurations, temperature measurement accuracy is ±0.5% of Reading, while mass flow calculation (saturated steam) achieves ±2% of Reading.
Process temperatures range from -29 to +250 °C for standard versions. Optional High Process Temperature Versions extend this capability to -29 to +450 °C (-29 to +400 °C for Multi-Variable Type), and Cryogenic Versions support -196 to +100 °C.
Pressure ratings are defined by pipe size: 42 MPa (PS) for DN15 to DN300, and 25 MPa (PS) for DN400. The series operates within an ambient temperature range of -29 to +85 °C (-40 to +85 °C for Remote Type converters; -30 to +80 °C with Indicator). Humidity tolerance is rated at 5 to 100% RH (at 40 °C) without condensation. The enclosure rating meets IP66/IP67 (IEC 60529) and Type 4X (NEMA 250).
Response time is configurable from 0 to 99 Sec (63% response time). Load resistance requirements are specified as 250 to 600 Ω, including cable resistance.
Configuration Options
The series offers extensive configuration options across housing types, process connections, materials, and output signals to accommodate diverse installation needs.
- Housing & Mounting: Available as Integral Type or Remote Type (Detector with DYA Converter). Housing material is Aluminum alloy JIS ADC12; name plates are Stainless steel JIS SUS304. A DY mounting bracket for 2B pipe uses Carbon steel sheet JIS SPCC/SECC.
- Process Connections: Supports Wafer and Flange types (RF, SF, RJ) in sizes DN15 to DN400. Standards include JIS (10K, 20K, 40K), ANSI Class (150, 300, 600, 900), and DIN PN (10, 16, 25, 40).
- Wetted Materials: Standard body material is Stainless steel JIS SCS14A or ASTM CF8M. Shedder bars are Duplex stainless steel ASTM S31803 (Size 15mm) or EN1.4517 (Sizes 25mm to 400mm). Gaskets use JIS SUS316 with polytetrafluoroethylene coating.
- Special Service Options: Configurable for Anti-Corrosion Version II (/HY), High Process Temperature (/HT), Cryogenic (/LT), NACE Material (/NC), and Reduced Bore Type (/R1, /R2).
- Output Signals & Communication: Supports 4 to 20 mA DC (2-wire system) with optional BRAIN or HART communication. Pulse output options include scaled pulse, unscaled pulse, and frequency. Transistor contact outputs are available as Open collector (3-wire). Dual Output allows simultaneous Analog and Transistor signals. FOUNDATION fieldbus protocol is supported.
- Electrical Connections: JIS G1/2 female, ANSI 1/2 NPT female, or ISO M20 × 1.5 female.
Approvals & Certifications
The series supports Intrinsically Safe approvals (TIIS / FM / ATEX / CSA / SAA) and IECEx. Explosion-proof construction is available, along with TIIS Flame proof approval (/JF3). Additional certifications include ISO 9001 (Stamford, CT), ISO 9002 (Manchester, UK), Safe Approval (KS2), and IECEx Intrinsically Safe Approval (ISS2).
Key Product Differences
The FV500C Series is structured into three primary product families: the Model DY Vortex Flowmeter (Integral Type and Remote Type Detector) and the DYA Vortex Flow Converter for remote applications. The series also includes the DYC Signal Cable, available in lengths up to 30m with various end finish parts.
Model codes follow a structured naming convention: DY-------. For example, DY080-E-A-L-BJ1-0-D. The DYA converter follows a similar pattern: DYA----.
Key distinctions include the Multi-Variable Type (Option /MV), which integrates a built-in Pt1000 temperature sensor, and specific material configurations for Anti-Corrosion (/HY) or NACE environments. Wafer type connections are available for models DY015 to DY100, while Flange types extend from DY015 to DY400.
