The Dwyer Series WVT Vertical Rotary Piston Water Meter is designed for measuring water flow and displaying total usage. The series utilizes piston displacement technology to provide accurate operation in either horizontal or vertical mounting orientations. Documented applications include irrigation use, where the meter's polymer and stainless steel construction offers durability and environmental resistance.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series WVT operates with a process temperature limit of 122°F (50°C) and a pressure rating of 150 psi (1034 kPa). Accuracy is specified as ±2% for nominal flow and ±5% for transitional flow. The totalizing display maximum is 999,999.99 gallons.
Flow ranges vary by model size:
- G3/4 (WVT-A-01): 0.07 GPM to 13.75 GPM
- G1 (WVT-A-02): 0.11 GPM to 22 GPM
The series is rated for water service only, with wetted materials consisting of ABS, POM, SS, and Buna-N.
Configuration Options
The Series WVT offers configurable options regarding meter size, output signal type, and thread conversion. The model number guide follows the format WVT-A-<size>-<output>.
- Meter Sizes: Available in G3/4 (5/8" x 1/2") and G1 (5/8" x 3/4").
- Output Options: Models are available with no output or a pulse output where frequency is proportional to flowrate.
- Pulse Rate: The optional pulse output provides a rate of 0.05 gal/pulse.
- Process Connections: Meters feature BSPP threads; adapter couplings are included to convert these connections to NPT (1/2" NPT for G3/4, 3/4" NPT for G1).
Electrical specifications for models with pulse output include a power supply requirement of 0.01 A @ 24 VAC/DC and electrical connections via 3.5mm² stranded color-coded lead wires with a 5' (1.5 m) length.
Key Product Differences
The series distinguishes between models based on size and the presence of an electronic output:
- WVT-A-01 / WVT-A-02: Models without pulse output, featuring a totalizing display only.
- WVT-A-01-1 / WVT-A-02-1: Models with the optional pulse output for flow verification and external totalization.
Physical dimensions differ by size: G3/4 units have a length of 4.53 in (115 mm) and weigh 1.15 lb (0.52 kg), while G1 units measure 6.50 in (165 mm) in length and weigh 1.34 lb (0.6 kg). Length with NPT coupling is 8.23 in (209 mm) for G3/4 and 10.16 in (258 mm) for G1.
Installation notes indicate the meter should be installed between straight pipes on the inlet and outlet side, with a minimum length of 3 times the nominal pipe diameter to ensure accurate readings. The Series WVT is not field serviceable; repair attempts may void the warranty.
