Product Overview
- Series ID Series-SN-SM-SH-MN-MM-MH-LN-LE-XHF
Supported Applications
The Dwyer Standard Series (SN, SM, SH, MN, MM, MH, LN, LE, XHF) comprises Vane In-Line Variable Area Flowmeters designed for fixed installation to monitor and control fluid flow in industrial processes. These devices are specified for compatible liquids with viscosities up to 650 centistokes max (3000 SSU). The series supports pipe sizes from 1/4 in to 8 in, covering flow rates of 2 LPM to 5600 LPM (0.5 GPM to 1500 GPM), with specific ranges including 30 GPH to 1200 GPH and 0.1 CMH to 340 CMH.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates under process temperatures of 93 °C (200 °F), with an HT option available for 205 °C (400 °F); transmitter options support up to 150 °C (300 °F) in the HT configuration. Ambient temperature limits are listed as 65 °C (150 °F) to 41 °C (105 °F). Accuracy is model selectable: +/- 5 % of full scale for S series and 1 % of reading, with a repeatability of 1 % of reading. The response time is documented as 250 ms.
Pressure ratings vary by sub-series:
- SX-P & MX-P: 13.8 bar (200 psi)
- SX-V: 6.9 bar (100 psi)
- SN-MN-LN-XHF: 20.7 bar (300 psi)
- SM-MM-LE: 34.5 bar (500 psi)
- SH-MH: 137.9 bar (2000 psi)
The meters require zero straight pipe runs before or after the meter and support multi-directional mounting in any position.
Configuration Options
This series offers extensive configuration options for housing materials, wetted parts, process connections, and output signals to accommodate diverse installation requirements.
- Housing Materials: Aluminum with Nylon Flow Chamber, Brass with Nylon Flow Chamber, Aluminum, Brass, 316 Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel, PVC, Polysulfone.
- Wetted Materials: Flow body options include Aluminum, brass, or 316 SS; internal moving parts available in 316L SS. Seal materials include Buna-N or Viton® (Fluorocarbon FKM), with Kalrez and Fluorocarbon FKM as an option.
- Process Connections: Female NPT, SAE, BSPT, BSPP, or ANSI RF flanges are model selectable. Flanged options require selection of Attachment, Material, Class, and Style.
- Enclosure Ratings: Type 12 (IP52), Type 4 (IP66), or Type 4X (IP65) depending on the service code selected (N for Oil/dust tight, W for Weatherproof, X for Weatherproof/corrosion proof).
- Output Signals: Options include standard mechanical pointer display with optional numeric digital LCD. Electronic outputs feature 4 mA to 20 mA analog output or HART® protocol. Intrinsically safe transmitters (X0) are available with approved barriers.
- Switch Configurations: Available in zero, one, or two SPDT switches; high vibration variants; hermetically sealed options; gold contact versions; and hazardous location rated outputs for all classes, groups, and divisions.
Power requirements are None for standard models. For 4 mA to 20 mA analog output or HART® protocol: 10 Vdc to 30 Vdc, 0.25 A @ 24 Vdc. Intrinsically safe transmitters require 10 Vdc to 24 Vdc, 0.25 A @ 24 Vdc.
Key Product Differences
The series is segmented by pressure rating and size class:
- S Series (Small Vane): Includes SN (Normal Pressure 300 psi), SM (Medium Pressure 500 psi), SH (High Pressure 2000 psi), SX-P & MX-P (Low/Normal Pressure variants).
- M Series (Medium Vane): Includes MN, MM, MH, and MX models.
- L Series (Large Vane): Includes LN (Normal Pressure 300 psi) and LE (High Pressure 1000 psi).
- XHF: Extra Large Vane Normal Pressure (300 psi), with an approximate swing radius of R12.96 in (329 mm).
Model codes define specific configurations for housing material (-A, -B, -D, -F, -I, -M, -V, -P), internal moving parts (I: 316 Stainless Steel, T: Titanium), and seal materials. Control box options range from analog displays in Polysulfone (A Box) or Aluminum (L Box) to digital LCD with transmitters (TXL, TH). Special options include High Temp (HT up to 400 °F / 300 °F for transmitter options), Safety Glass Window (TG), Manual override (E), Dual spring for lower flow rates on high flow units (DS), and NIST Certificate availability.
