Supported Applications
The Omega FLSW3400 and FLSW3500 Series are variable area flow meters equipped with Hi or Low alarm optical sensor switches. This series provides a non-invasive means for the detection of HI or LOW flow conditions within a 150 mm Flow Meter assembly.
Documented applications include triggering an alarm, activating a cutoff valve, or controlling other devices when the float passes the detector set point. The system is designed to monitor float position at specific levels and signal when the float moves outside of the sensor light beam range.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Hi-Lo Optical Sensor Switch consists of an OSSM module and two self-contained mini-slim photoelectric sensors (Thrubeam type). Each sensor includes a transmitter and receiver mounted on solid carriers on opposite sides of the flow tube. Detection occurs as the float passes across the beam of light.
Power requirements are +12 to +15 VDC with a minimum current rating of 250 mA. The power input is protected by a 600 mA (medium time-lag) resettable fuse, which cuts power in the event of a shorting condition or polarity reversal.
Important operational constraints include:
- SUPPLYING DC POWER TO THE POWER JACK AND THE "D" CONNECTOR AT THE SAME TIME WILL DAMAGE THE METER.
- The DC Power Jack Polarity is Center Positive.
- Do not connect a power supply with more than 15VDC voltage.
Configuration Options
The series supports configurable output signals via two relays and an external reset function. Electrical connections are provided through a 9-pin D-connector (DB9M) or power jack. The packing list for the system includes one desired Flow Meter with Hi-Lo Sensors installed, one OSSM module, two splitters, and a User's Guide; a Power Supply is optional.
Output signal configuration via the 9 Pin "D" Connector:
- Relay #1: COM (Pin 5), NC (Pin 9), N.O. (Pin 4)
- Relay #2: COM (Pin 8), N.O. (Pin 3), N.C. (Pin 7)
- External Reset: Pin 2
- Power: Common Power (Pin 6), Plus Power (Pin 1)

What are the incremental units of measurement on the FLSW3410ST-A model? I know the max flow for this model is 16737 ml/min.
