Supported Applications

The Omega LVU2700 Series is a general-purpose, two-wire ultrasonic level transmitter designed for continuous liquid level measurement in tanks and vessels. As a non-contact sensor, the series provides proportional level data via a loop-powered 4-20 mA output suitable for connection to PLCs, SCADA systems, DCS units, displays, or controllers.

According to product documentation, this ultrasonic technology is selected for applications involving corrosive liquids, ultrapure liquids, and sticky or dirty liquids. The series supports bulk storage tanks, day tanks, lift stations, and process tank level monitoring where the sensor remains above the media surface during normal operation.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The LVU2700 Series operates within a supply voltage of 24 VDC (loop) with a maximum loop resistance of 500 Ω @ 24 Vdc. The transmitter features automatic temperature compensation and maintains an accuracy of ±0.2% of range across its measurement envelope.

Performance specifications vary by model to accommodate different tank depths:

• Lvu2710: Range 10 cm to 3 m (4" to 9.8'), Resolution 0.5 mm (0.019")
• Lvu2718: Range 20 cm to 5.5 m (8" to 18.0'), Resolution 1 mm (0.039")
• Lvu2726: Range 20 cm to 8 m (8" to 26.6'), Resolution 2 mm (0.079")
• Lvu2732: Range 20 cm to 10 m (8" to 32.8'), Resolution 2 mm (0.079")

The series is rated for a Maximum Working Pressure of 2 bar (30 psi). Operating temperature limits are -20 to 60°C (-4 to 140°F) for process conditions and -35 to 60°C (-31 to 140°F) for ambient conditions. The enclosure is rated NEMA 4X (IP65).

Configuration Options

The LVU2700 Series offers configurable mounting threads, output signal behavior, and configuration interfaces to meet specific installation requirements.

• Housing & Materials: The enclosure is constructed of Polycarbonate. Wetted parts include a PVDF transducer material and an FKM mount gasket (Part #200128 for LVU2710 series; Part #200129 for LVU2718, 26, or 32 series).
• Process Connections: The LVU2710 model features a 1" NPT process mount (with 1" G optional). Models LVU2718, LVU2726, and LVU2732 feature a 2" NPT process mount (with 2" G optional).
• Signal Output: The standard output is 4 to 20 mA. Configuration options allow for signal inversion (20 to 4 mA) or fail-safe states set to 4 mA, 20 mA, 21 mA, 22 mA, or hold last.
• Cable & Electrical: Units include a 10' (3 m) length of 4-conductor shielded cable with a Polyurethane jacket. The electrical connection supports configuration via USB PC Windows® USB 2.0 software using non-volatile memory.

Key Product Differences

The series is distinguished by measurement range and the inclusion of a USB connector for on-site programming:

• Lvu2710, LVU2718, LVU2726, LVU2732 (Standard): These models include an integrated USB connector for configuration via free software download.
• -B Suffix Models: Variants ending in "-B" (e.g., LVU2710-B) are supplied without the USB connector. A separate LVCN414-USB adapter is required to configure these units.
• G-Thread Options: Adding a "-G" suffix designates models with G-thread process connections instead of NPT (e.g., LVU2710-G).

Note: The sensor should not be used in classified hazardous environments and is not designed to operate when immersed. It must be mounted so the enclosure and transducer do not contact application media under normal conditions.
