Supported Applications

The Omega TAS-CH60 series comprises Transition Adaptors and Round Terminal Blocks designed for thermocouple connections. These components facilitate quick interconnections between standard and miniature connector systems, as well as banana plug interfaces. The round terminal blocks accommodate single or dual wire pair connections specifically for probes, tubes, or cable sheaths ranging from 1.5 to 6 mm (1/16 to 1/4 inch) in diameter.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within an ambient temperature range of -29 to 180°C (-20 to 356°F). A specific model, TAS-U-7 (Sheathed banana plug to banana plug set), is rated for a maximum temperature of 110°C (230°F).

Users should note that minor discoloration of the connector or block may occur between 150°C (302°F) and 180°C (356°F); however, electrical properties are not affected by this visual change.

Configuration Options

The TAS-CH60 series offers a broad configuration envelope for thermocouple calibration types, connector genders, and terminal counts. The housing features rugged, one-piece molded construction made from glass-filled nylon.

  • Calibration Options: Available in J, K, T, E, R/S, N, or U (uncompensated). Additional cost options include G, C, and D calibrations; note that models 1 and 3 are not available for these specific types.
  • Color Coding: Standard ANSI color coding is provided. An IEC color code suffix (-IEC) can be added to the model number.
  • Connector Types (Transition Adaptors):
    • Male standard to male mini
    • Female standard to male mini
    • Male standard to female mini
    • Female standard to female mini
    • Male banana plug to female mini
    • Sheathed banana plug to banana plug (single and set)
  • Terminal Blocks: Round terminal blocks are available with 2, 3, or 4 terminals.
  • Special Options: Uncompensated lugs (U) and compression fittings (1/8 BSP).

The overall dimensions for the terminal block include a diameter of 31.7 mm (1.25 inch) and a thickness of 9.7 mm (0.38 inch). Model numbering follows the pattern TAS-- or CH-.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between Transition Adaptors and Round Terminal Blocks based on function and terminal count.

  • TAS Series (Transition Adaptors): These models bridge different connector sizes or types. The numeric suffix defines the gender configuration: -1 for Male standard to male mini, -2 for Female standard to male mini, -3 for Male standard to female mini, and -4 for Female standard to female mini. Models with a 'U' prefix (e.g., TAS-U-5) denote banana plug interfaces.
  • CH Series (Round Terminal Blocks): These models are identified by the number of terminals: CH62 provides 2 terminals, CH63 provides 3 terminals, and CH64 provides 4 terminals. The calibration type is appended to the model number (e.g., CH62-K).
  • IEC Variants: Models requiring IEC color coding are designated by adding an "-IEC" suffix or using specific part numbers such as TAS-KI, which indicates K-type with IEC coloring.

They seem to be adapters, and do a good job of converting my OST thermocouples to the SMP adapters that fit my thermocouples. I haven't actually used them yet (and probably won't until next fall), so I'm giving them 3 stars on everything.

What are the dimensions on the male mini connection? The Type 2 (female STD to male mini) appears to taper out. I need to make sure itll fit inside a Amprobe TMD-56 where the mini connections are recessed ~8mm into the meter.
