OMEGA's Quick Disconnect Thermocouples with Miniature Connectors are high quality, economical thermocouple probes. They feature a glass filled nylon connector which is rated for temperatures up to 180°C (356°F). The probes are available in with diameters as small as 0.25mm (0.010 inches) and as large as to 3.0mm (0.125 inches).
Probes less than 48 inches in length are shipped 'straight'. Probes equal to or greater than 48 inches in length are shipped 'coiled'. If a probe that is 48 inches or longer must ship straight, please add "-SST" to the end of the part number (maximum ship straight length is 96 inches) - contact Customer Service for additional charges. Additional shipping fees from carrier may also apply for non-standard length packaging.

when would I use a grounded versus ungrounded thermocouple?
Thank you for your inquiry David W. You would use grounded when there is no risk of any electrical noise affecting your measurement and you want a fast time response. You will used ungrounded to minimize the electrical noise on the system however your time response will be slower.

Accuracy of KMQSS-040U-6
Thank you for the inquiry. The accuracy will be greater of +/- 1.1°C or 0.4% of the reading.

In the part no for a thermocouple, what is the difference in the first three letters KMQ vs. SCA?
Thank you for your inquiry. KMQ's connectors are molded to the probe and are non-removable. SCA's have removable connectors. Both are Type K Thermocouples.

What is the response time
Thermocouple response time is a function of the probe diameter and the junction type such as Grounded, Ungrounded and Exposed. The link attached will help you determine the response times of various diameters of thermocouples with the three aforementioned junction types.

Do you have guidelines for minimum bend radius? I'm not seeing any in the datasheet.
The minimum bend radius would be 2 times the probes diameter.

Does this item include the female connector?
Thank you for your inquiry. These products do not come with the female miniature mating connector. Sold separately.

I am using the probes with temperature range of 0-260 degC. I make sure the tip is always measuring within range. But, some portion of the sheath far away from the tip may be under a higher temperature, say 300 degC. Is this okay?
Thank you for your inquiry. No the temperature range of the entire sheath is 0 to 260 C. If you exposed any part of the probe to a temperature higher than the rated temperature, it will lead the probe to have a reduce lifetime and failed prematurely. If you need to measure higher temperatures, please get a probe rated for that maximum temperature.

What is a maximum diameter of the cable connected to the TC? Could you recommend a cable to connect the TC for length of 80m aprox.?
There is no cable or lead wires attached to the probe. You will need to use a mating female connector and extension wire to extend the run of your circuit. The mating connectors can only handle up to a 20 gauge wire. The maximum distance you can run a type E 20 gauge thermocouple wire is 140'.
