Supported Applications

The HX94B Series is a temperature/relative-humidity transmitter for duct or wall mounting that delivers a linearized, temperature-compensated output for both temperature and relative humidity. The digital sensor is protected by a removable stainless steel cap, and the NEMA 4 stainless steel enclosure with sealed cable entry provides weather-tight protection for HVAC, environmental-monitoring and process applications.

Depending on the model selected, the transmitter provides a 4 to 20 mA, 0 to 1 Vdc, 0 to 5 Vdc or 0 to 10 Vdc output. Each unit includes mounting hardware and comes complete for direct installation.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The transmitter measures relative humidity across 0 to 100% RH and temperature across 0 to 100°C (32°F to 212°F). Humidity accuracy is ±2.5% from 20 to 80% RH, widening to ±3.5% from 5 to 20% and 80 to 95% RH and ±4% from 0 to 5% and 95 to 100% RH, with hysteresis of ±1%RH. Temperature accuracy is ±0.6°C from 0 to 50°C (32°F to 122°F) and ±1.25°C from 50 to 100°C (122°F to 212°F), with repeatability of ±0.2°C.

Response time is 5 seconds minimum, 30 seconds maximum for temperature and 8 seconds typical for humidity. The unit is powered from 9 to 30 Vdc @ 100 mA and drives a maximum current-loop resistance of 200Ω @ 9V supply up to 1250Ω @ 30V supply. The probe is 19 mm (0.75 in) in diameter and 258 mm (10.15 in) long, with an insertion depth of 25 to 214 mm (1 to 8.44 in), and weighs 200 g (7 oz) with the mounting kit. The 316 stainless steel enclosure is rated NEMA 4 (IP66), and the series is CE marked with an NIST-traceable calibration option (CAL-3-HU).

Configuration Options

The twelve variants differ along two axes: output signal and electrical connection. The output code sets the signal — C for 4 to 20 mA, V0 for 0 to 1 Vdc, V1 for 0 to 5 Vdc and V2 for 0 to 10 Vdc.

The connection style then determines termination. Base models (for example HX94BC) terminate in a 4-pin connector; W models (such as HX94BCW) bring out 1.8 m (6ft) stripped lead wires through a liquid-tight cable gland; and NPT models (such as HX94BCNPT) add a ½" male NPT fitting with lead wires.

Key Product Differences

The full lineup pairs each of the four outputs with each of the three connection styles:

  • HX94BC, HX94BV0, HX94BV1, HX94BV2 — 4-pin connector versions
  • HX94BCW, HX94BV0W, HX94BV1W, HX94BV2W — stripped lead-wire versions
  • HX94BCNPT, HX94BV0NPT, HX94BV1NPT, HX94BV2NPT — ½" male NPT fitting versions

Accessories include the HX94-MC spare 4-pin mating connector, the PSR-24S, PSR-24L and PSR-24L-230 regulated power supplies, the CAL-3-HU NIST-traceable calibration, and TX4-100 / TX4W-50 shielded cables.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent unit as always Great unit for Temp and rH. Installation document made the code development easy by providing the equations for conversion.

Manual says humidity can be calculated using specific equations corresponding to a specific output voltage. What equations should one use if the voltage reading is 1.1 Volts or 0.9 Volts. Also, what should be the operating input voltage for the HX94B?

Asked by: AminB
Hi AminB, The HX94B series includes 3 models with voltage output. HX94BV0, HX94BV1, HX94BV2. Manual provides the correlation between voltage and RH/Temperature levels. Best regards OMEGA

Which model withstand a temperature range from -10C to +85C, also capable to read from zero to 100%RH, water proof. We have been using the model HX71-V1

Asked by: Hilario Barboza
Hi Hillario, Thank you for the inquiry. Unfortunately this series is not designed for condensing humidity environment. We do not offer compatible alternate sensor for wet environments. Best regards OMEGA

The manual states that for a 0-1V output and 0-5V output, the input power supply must be between 9-30 Vdc at 100 mA. These formulas for humidity provide different results. Which formula would be more accurate for a 0.99 V output or 1.1 V output.

Asked by: AminB
Thank you for your inquiry. For a 0.99 V output you will need to use the 0-1 V formula. For a 1.1 V output, you will need to use the 0-5 V formula. If you have any questions, please call 1-888-826-6342, ask for Temperature Engineering and speak to one of our temperature engineers over the phone.
