Supported Applications

The Omega HX94 series is a stainless steel relative humidity and temperature probe transmitter designed for duct mount monitoring applications. The unit provides reliable, low-cost measurement of air conditions using solid-state sensors that offer excellent sensitivity, fast response, and stability. It delivers linearized outputs suitable for interfacing with most display and control devices.

Documented media compatibility includes air and non-corrosive gases. The probe is not intended for use in medical applications or on humans.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The HX94 series operates within a process temperature range of -20 to 85°C (4 to 185°F). Relative humidity measurement spans 3 to 95% RH, with an accuracy of ±2% RH and repeatability of ±1% RH. Temperature is measured from 0 to 100°C (32 to 212°F) using a Thin-Film 100 Ω Platinum RTD (DIN 43760), providing an accuracy of ±0.6°C (±1°F) and repeatability of ±0.3°C (±0.5°F).

Response times vary by condition: less than 2 seconds in moving air at 1 m/sec, and less than 10 seconds in still air for temperature response (60% response). For relative humidity, the time constant is less than 20 seconds for a 10 to 90% RH change and less than 30 seconds for a 90 to 10% RH change. The unit requires a power supply of 6 to 30 Vdc with polarity protection.

Configuration Options

The series supports multiple output configurations, housing styles, and connection types:

  • Output Signals: Available as HX94C for 4 to 20 mA current output or HX94V for 0 to 1 Vdc voltage output.
  • Housing & Enclosure: Features a stainless steel NEMA 4 enclosure with a removable protective sensor filter cap. The probe dimensions are 254 x 19 mm (10 x 0.75") diameter, including a 305 mm (12") cable.
  • Process Connections: Configurable for duct mounting via a removable, variable depth flange (adjustable from 25.4 to 227 mm or 1 to 9 inches) requiring a 21 mm (0.812") hole; wall mounting is supported with an included bracket.
  • Electrical Connections: Options include a standard 4-pin mating connector accepting 26 to 18 AWG wires, or integrated lead wire versions: HX94CW/VW models feature a 1 m (3') braided and shielded cable with PVC sheathing; HX94CNPT/VNPT models provide a ½" male NPT fitting with a 1 m (3') braided/shielded cable.
  • Power & Load: For current output, maximum loop impedance is calculated as Rmax = (power supply voltage - 6 volts) / 0.02 amps. For the 1 to 5 Volt Output version, load resistance should be 250 Ohm.

Key Product Differences

The HX94 series is differentiated by output type and connection method:

  • HX94C / HX94V: Standard models with 4 to 20 mA or 0 to 1 Vdc outputs, respectively, utilizing a 4-pin mating connector.
  • HX94CW / HX94VW: Models equipped with integrated 1 m (3') lead wires instead of the detachable connector.
  • HX94CNPT / HX94VNPT: Variants featuring a ½" male NPT fitting and integrated leads for conduit connection.

The series is RoHS 2 Compliant. Weight with the duct flange is approximately 198 g (7 oz).

Do we need to purchase a power cable along with DPPT series?

Asked by: shibo_f
Hi Shibo_F, Thank you for the inquiry. Yes, you will need power/signal cable. 4 conductor twisted shielded cable, TX4-100, can be used for this purpose. Best regards, OMEGA

How is the accuracy if the probe has condensation on it? Is there an IP rating for the probe?

Asked by: Eddie J
Hi Eddie Thank you for the inquiry. This probe is not designed to handle condensing humidity conditions. If the sensor gets water droplets on the element it will go into saturation with max output. It would have to dry clean without corrosion to come back on line in calibration. The housing is rated NEMA 4. Best regards OMEGA

Can I get the readings with the combination of followings? 1 HX94V + DPPT series Do I need to calibrate DPPT?

Asked by: shibo_f
Hi Shibo_F, The HX94V has 2 outputs so you would need 2 displays. You would need to set up and scale the display to match the calibrated range of the HX94V. Best regards, OMEGA

What are the accessories that are required for this one? To what instrument is the 4 pin connector connected?

Asked by: dan123_dan
Thank you for your inquiry. The primary accessories required are a power supply (shown under accessories) on product page, and 4 conductor cable to mate with supplied connector that would be then connected to an instrument to read the values. There are two 4-20 mA outputs (one for temperature, one for relative humidity) that can be connected to any instrument (panel meter, chart recorder, controller, etc.) that accepts a 4-20 mA signal and can be scaled to represent temperature or relative humidity.
