Aperçu du produit
- Series ID BARE-SH-DH-OV-ELEMENTS
Supported Applications
The Omega Ceramic Beaded Thermocouple Elements series provides precise temperature measuring elements assembled from high-grade materials. These sensors are designed for applications requiring thermocouples checked against standard temperature-millivolt curves to assure calibration accuracy.
Operating Conditions & Performance
Omega's ceramic beaded thermocouple elements meet or exceed ANSI Special Limits of Error and EN 60584-2: Tolerance Class 1. The series supports multiple insulation types with distinct temperature ratings:
- X C Insulation: Rated to 1200°C (2200°F)
- S H, D H, and O V Insulators: Rated to 1600°C (2900°F)
- F S Insulators: Rated to 1200°C (2200°F)
Note: These ratings apply to the insulation only; users must check operating limits of the wire. The standard overall length for listed configurations is 300 mm (12").
Configuration Options
The series offers a broad configuration envelope across thermocouple types, wire sizes, and insulator geometries.
Sensor Types & Wire Sizes
- Type J: Iron-Constantan
- Type K: CHROMEGA®-ALOMEGA®
- Type T: Copper-Constantan
- Type E: CHROMEGA®-Constantan
- American Wire Gauge (AWG): 8, 14, 20, and 24 AWG options are available.
Insulator Configurations
The series supports the following insulator styles to accommodate specific well or tube IDs:- Bare Wires (No Insulators): Available for 8, 14, 20, and 24 AWG.
- Single Hole Round (SH) Insulators: Provided with specific ODs and Well IDs per wire size.
- Double Hole Round (DH) Insulators: Available for dual-wire configurations across all listed AWG sizes.
- Fish Spine (FS) Insulators: Single hole options available in FS-260, FS-200, and FS-110 profiles depending on wire size.
- Double Hole Oval (OV) Insulators: Available for 8, 14, and 20 AWG configurations.
Ordering & Customization
Optional lengths are available. When ordering, the last digits of the part number indicate length in inches or fractions; users may change these to show actual desired length. For orders over 5', consult Sales Department for pricing.
Key Product Differences
Variants within this series differ primarily by insulator geometry, wire gauge, and thermocouple type combination. The "To Order" table defines specific model numbers such as Bare-8-J-12 (8 AWG Type J with no insulators) or DH-1-14-K-12 (14 AWG Type K with double hole ceramic bead insulators). For R, S, and B thermocouples using RAT, SAT, BAT series elements, users are directed to visit the manufacturer online. Detailed dimensional data for specific bead sizes is available via the Insulator Dimensional Chart in the source documentation.

Are these thermocouples made of operation at high temp and high vacuum simultaneously? I operate an accelerator beam line and we are having issues with sublimation of thermocouple wires in high vacuum.
Hi Cecchini,
Thank you for the inquiry. Type K has limited use in vacuum/reducing environments. Type N will give better performance.
Best regards
OMEGA

Hello, I would like to measure the cooling rate of a casting (the thermocouple will be in contact with the molten material and will be keep it there during the solidification process). Could you recommend a thermocouple to perform this task?
You may be able to use a sheathed Thermocouple rated in temperature above the melting point of your casting material. Ideally using non-contact IR sensors would be the best approach Omega would suggest. Send an email to temp@dwyeromega.com to have questions answered regarding your application.
