Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series SSM All Metal Flowmeters are designed for service with dirty or opaque fluids, high temperature and high pressure conditions, and harsh environments. The series supports compatible liquids and gases.

Operating Conditions & Performance

Series SSM flowmeters provide a direct reading scale with ±2% full-scale accuracy and repeatability of ±0.5% of indicated flow rate. Standard operating temperature is 300°F (149°C); temperatures from 300°F to 600°F (149°C to 316°C) require a 'hot top' sold separately.

Pressure ratings are defined by connection size and temperature:

• 3/4" models: 1000 psig (68.9 bar) @ 250°F (121°C)
• 1-1/2" models: 800 psig (55 bar) @ 250°F (121°C)

The series offers approximate 25 to 1 ranges, wider than typical variable area ball float flow meters. Scale lengths are 3.2" (8 cm) for 3/4" models and 5.2" (13 cm) for 1-1/2" models.

Configuration Options

The series is available in two connection sizes with specific model configurations:

• Process Connections: 3/4" female NPT or 1-1/2" female NPT.
• Housing Material: Stainless Steel (T316 SS).
• Wetted Materials: T316 SS, Alnico magnet, FKM O-ring.

Available measurement ranges include water flows from 0.2-5.4 GPM to 4-120 GPM and air flows from 2-50 SCFM to 20-1000 SCFM. Specific models (SSM-00 through SSM-13) define the exact range, connection size, and maximum pressure loss.

Key design features include an internal magnet that carries the external flow indicator in a non-wetted enclosure. The units can be quickly disassembled without removing the body from the pipeline for easy cleaning. Pipe adaptors may be used to adapt to alternate size liner without altering accuracy.

Key Product Differences

Variants are distinguished by connection size (3/4" or 1-1/2") and specific flow range models:

• 3/4" Models: Include SSM-00 through SSM-06 for water ranges up to 5.4 GPM, and SSM-07 through SSM-09 for air ranges up to 260 SCFM.
• 1-1/2" Models: Include SSM-03 through SSM-06 for water ranges from 0.5 to 120 GPM, and SSM-10 through SSM-13 for air ranges from 2 to 1000 SCFM.

Differences in physical dimensions correspond to the connection size: 3/4" models weigh 5 lb (2.3 kg) with a height of 10.780 [273], while 1-1/2" models weigh 13 lb (5.9 kg) with a height of 15.640 [397]. Maximum pressure loss varies by model, ranging from 4.5 in w.c. to 130.0 in w.c.
