Supported Applications

The Omega EMTO-3000 series comprises screw plug immersion heaters designed for medium weight oil applications. These units feature steel sheath elements and are configured with a 2 NPT stainless steel process connection.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates at power ratings from 3 to 9 kW, utilizing three heating elements per unit. All models maintain a watt density of 15 W/in² and are powered by 240 or 480V, 3-phase supplies. The steel sheath elements have a diameter of 1.2 (0.475) Dia.

Safe operation requires the use of an approved temperature control device. Heaters with general purpose enclosures are UL listed and CSA certified. Models equipped with moisture-resistant/explosion-resistant enclosures carry CSA NRTL/C certification but are not intended for use in hazardous areas.

Configuration Options

The EMTO-3000 series is available across a range of power levels, each corresponding to specific overall dimensions and weights. The model number format follows the pattern EMTO-<kW>-<Voltage Designation>, where voltage designation uses '240' for 240 Vac or '480' for 480 Vac.

Power and Dimension Options:

• 3 kW: Overall dimension B of 63 (24¾) cm/in
• 4 kW: Overall dimension B of 82 (32⅞) cm/in
• 5 kW: Overall dimension B of 103 (40¾) cm/in
• 6 kW: Overall dimension B of 122 (47⅞) cm/in
• 9 kW: Overall dimension B of 172 (67⅞) cm/in

Enclosure Configurations:

• E1 General Purpose Enclosure: NEMA 1 (IP00) rated, featuring a hole for 3/4 NPT conduit and a thermowell dimension of 10 (4).
• E2 Moisture-Resistant/Explosion-Resistant Enclosure: Features two 3/4 NPT conduit openings and a nominal thermowell dimension of 13 (5-3/16).

Both enclosure types include electrical connections via screw plugs. The E1 enclosure has a minimum hole size of 5.7 (2-1/4), while the E2 enclosure shares this minimum requirement.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the series differ primarily by power rating, voltage designation, and terminal enclosure type. The base model number indicates the kilowatt output (e.g., EMTO-3030 for 3 kW). Adding an 'E2' suffix designates the moisture-resistant/explosion-resistant housing option.

Weight varies with both power level and enclosure selection; for example, a 3 kW unit weighs 3.2 (7) kg/lb in the E1 configuration versus 4.5 (10) kg/lb in the E2 configuration. Higher wattage models correspond to increased overall length and weight across both enclosure types.
