Supported Applications

The Omega TMO Series consists of flanged immersion heaters designed for heating medium viscosity oil. Documented applications include industrial gear oils and Numbers 4 and 5 residual fuel oils.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates with a low watt density of 15 W/in², utilizing heavy coil construction to maximize surface area and limit temperature for longer coil life. Power supply options include 240 VAC and 480 VAC at 1 or 3 phase configurations.

Configuration Options

The TMO Series is available in a range of power ratings from 3 to 24 kW, configured with specific flange sizes, element counts, and enclosure types. Key configurable dimensions include:

• Process Connections: 3-inch-150 lb., 5-inch-150 lb., or 6-inch-150 lb. steel flanges.
• Sheath Materials: High Grade Steel Sheath (standard for 3-inch models), Stainless Sheath Elements (for 5-inch models), and Copper Sheath Elements (for 6-inch models).
• Enclosure Types: General Purpose, Moisture Resistant/Explosion Resistant (E2/E4 suffixes), or Explosion Resistant (E3 suffix).

Certifications vary by enclosure type. Heaters with General Purpose and Moisture Resistant Enclosures are UL Listed and CSA Certified. Heaters with Explosion Resistant Enclosures are CSA NRTL/C certified for Explosion Resistant Enclosures; these units are not intended for use in hazardous areas.

Key Product Differences

The series is differentiated by flange size, which correlates to element count and sheath material:

• 3-inch-150 lb. Steel Flange models (e.g., TMO-3xx15): Feature 3 steel sheath elements.
• 5-inch-150 Lb. Steel Flange models (e.g., TMO-6xx25): Feature 6 stainless sheath elements and are available in power ratings from 8 to 18 kW with 1 or 3 phase options.
• 6-inch-150 Lb. Steel Flange models (e.g., TMO-12xxF1): Feature 12 copper sheath elements and are available in power ratings from 12 to 24 kW with 3 phase options.

To order, specify the model number including voltage designation (i.e., 240 for 240 VAC or 480 for 480 VAC) and add the suffix "/3P" for 3-phase power. Larger flange sizes and kW ratings are available upon contact with OmegaLux®.
