Supported Applications

Operating Conditions & Performance

These heaters feature a die-formed aluminum-coated steel sheath enclosing nickel-chromium or nickel-chromium resistor wire wound on mica strips. The non-hygroscopic mica insulation provides long-term durability. Maximum barrel temperature is rated up to 399°C (750°F). Electrical power supply options include 120 to 240V for the MB-1 Series and 240/480V for the MB-2 Series.

Watt densities listed in specification tables are based on the heated area of contact surface only. The one-piece design is noted for providing uniform fit and quick temperature response, while two-piece configurations allow application on larger components.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very well suited for high temperatures! It is very well suited to high temperatures, high power densities. I am using it on a vacuum system to clamp around a 1.33 conflat flange. It brings the parts up to 175 deg C - as expected given the thermal conductivities. However the wire leads are a little suspect: The metallic braid seems to be electrically isolated with respect to the metal band. And at each end of the metal braid (four places) the flexibility changes abruptly - leaving the wire subject to strain. -John
