Supported Applications

The Omega PTH and CT Series over-the-side immersion heaters are designed for heating aqueous solutions in plating tanks, rinse tanks, and corrosive liquid environments. The series identity encompasses two distinct product lines: the heavy-duty PTH Series featuring a passivated 316 SS sheath, and the lightweight, thin-profile CT Series equipped with a vapor-tight terminal enclosure.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The documented performance envelope is defined by specific power ratings and watt densities across the two series. The PTH Series models range from 1 kW to 9 kW at voltages of 120, 240, or 480 V, with surface loading (W/in²) ranging from 21 W/in² up to 34 W/in² depending on the model. The CT and CTC Series models are rated for 5 kW or 7.5 kW at 240 Volts, offering watt densities of 25 W/in², 40 W/in², or 44 W/in² based on sheath material.

Installation requires that the liquid level be maintained above dimension B (the immersion depth). For applications involving solutions that develop scale on the sheath, periodic cleaning is required. Key Product Differences

Differences between the PTH and CT Series are defined by construction weight, profile, and material options:

• PTH Models (e.g., PTH-101 to PTH-904): Heavy-duty units with passivated 316 SS sheaths. Dimensions A range from 36 cm (14 in) for the 1 kW model up to 137 cm (54 in) for the 9 kW models.
• CT Models: Lightweight, thin-profile units with a cast-alloy vapor-tight enclosure. Dimension A varies by sheath material: Steel and Copper variants are listed at 5 cm (2 in), while 304 SS and Carpenter stainless #20* variants measure 7 cm (2¾ in). Titanium models range from 4 cm (1½ in) to 6 cm (2½ in).
