Operating Conditions & Performance
The MTS-2 Series operates on 1-phase power supplies of 120, 208, 240, or 480V. Wattage ratings range from 1.5 to 15 kW across the series envelope. The heating element diameter is specified as 1.2 cm (0.475"). Power density varies by model configuration, with values listed in the specification table ranging from 43 W/in² to 51 W/in² depending on the selected wattage and number of elements.
Installation requires a minimum hole size of 3.5 cm (1.375"). The series includes a note stating that this immersion heater should be used with an approved temperature control device to assure safe operation.
Configuration Options
The MTS-2 Series is configurable across wattage, voltage, and enclosure type. Model numbers follow the format MTS-<kW><Voltage Designation><Enclosure Type>, with specific examples including MTS-240A/240V and MTS-230E2/208V.

The series distinguishes between two primary enclosure configurations with different dimensional profiles:
- E1 General Purpose Enclosure: Features a dimension B of 11.7 cm (4.625"). The conduit hole is specified as 1.9 cm (0.75").
- E2 Moisture/Explosion-Resistant Enclosure: Features an overall height of 13.2 cm (5.1875") and a dimension B of 11.6 cm (4.5625"). The conduit opening is specified as 3/4 NPT.
Certification footnotes indicate that heaters with general purpose enclosures are UL listed and CSA certified except for models exceeding 48 A. Heaters with moisture-resistant/explosion-resistant enclosures are CSA NRTL/C certified, also excluding models exceeding 48 A.
