Supported Applications

The Omega MTO-2, EMTO-3, ARMT0-2, and AREMTO-3 series comprises immersion heaters designed specifically for heavy-weight oil applications. These units feature steel sheath elements with a 1.2 cm (0.475") diameter Incoloy construction to withstand the demands of viscous media.

Safe operation requires that this immersion heater be used with an approved temperature control device, as noted in the product specifications.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series supports power ratings ranging from 0.5 to 3 kW across single and three-phase configurations. Available electrical inputs include 120, 208, 240, and 480V.

  • Power Density: MTO-2 models operate at 6 W/in²; EMTO-3, AREMTO-3, and ARMT0-2 models operate at 8 W/in².
  • Voltage Options: Single-phase units (MTO-2) support 120V, 208V, or 240V. Three-phase units (EMTO-3, AREMTO-3) are available for 240V and 480V.
  • Element Diameter: All models utilize a 1.2 cm (0.475") diameter element.

The heaters incorporate a 2 NPT steel screw plug as the process connection point.

Configuration Options

The series offers distinct model families to address different enclosure requirements and control configurations:

  • MTO-2 & EMTO-3: Standard immersion heaters available with E1 General Purpose or E2 Moisture Resistant/Explosion Resistant terminal enclosures.
  • ARMT0-2 & AREMTO-3: Configurations that include temperature control options, designated by T1 (Temperature 0–100°F) and T2 (Temperature 60–250°F).

Housing materials consist of a 2 NPT stainless steel construction. The terminal enclosure is configurable as either General Purpose or Moisture-Resistant/Explosion-Resistant.

Approvals and Certifications

  • E1 Enclosures: Heaters with general purpose enclosures are UL listed and CSA certified.
  • E2 Enclosures: Heaters with moisture-resistant/explosion-resistant enclosures carry CSA NRTL/C certification.

All units in this series are MADE IN USA.

Key Product Differences

The MTO-2 and EMTO-3 families differ primarily by phase capability; MTO-2 is a single-phase design, while EMTO-3 is designed for three-phase power. The ARMT0-2 and AREMTO-3 variants extend the series to include integrated temperature control options (T1/T2) alongside standard immersion heating.

Model selection requires specifying kW output, phase or voltage, watt density, element dimension B in cm/inches, and the specific enclosure type (E1 General Purpose or E2 Moisture Resistant/Explosion Resistant). For models with temperature control options, the designation includes T1 for 0–100°F ranges or T2 for 60–250°F ranges.

Dimension B varies by power rating and model family. MTO-2 element lengths range from 45 cm (17¾") to 102 cm (40¼"). EMTO-3 elements span from 45 cm (17¾") up to 122 cm (47⅞"). AREMTO-3 and ARMT0-2 models list dimension B in inches, ranging from 17-3/4" to 47-7/8" depending on the kW rating.
