Supported Applications

The Omega OMEGALUX® EMTS-3 Series is a process water immersion heater featuring a compact design with three heating elements integrated into a single fitting. The electropolished stainless steel sheath construction makes the series well suited for mild corrosive solutions commonly found in industrial applications.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The EMTS-3 Series operates across a wattage range of 3 to 18 kW, with power supply options including 208, 240, and 480 Vac at either 1 or 3 phase. The heating elements utilize a passivated stainless steel sheath with a diameter of 1.2 cm (0.475"). Process connection is provided via a 2 NPT electropolished stainless steel screw plug.

Performance specifications vary by model wattage, with surface loading ranging from 38 to 47 W/in² depending on the selected power rating and dimensions. The series supports overall lengths varying from 20 cm (7¾") for lower-wattage models up to 120 cm (47⅛") for higher-capacity configurations.

Configuration Options

The EMTS-3 Series is configurable across multiple parameters including wattage, voltage, phase, and enclosure type. The following capabilities are available within the series envelope:

• Wattage Ratings: 3 kW, 4.5 kW, 6 kW, 7.5 kW, 9 kW, 12 kW, 15 kW, and 18 kW.
• Voltage & Phase: Configurable for 208 Vac, 240 Vac, or 480 Vac; available in single-phase (1P) or three-phase (3P).
• Enclosure Options:
  • E1: General purpose enclosure.
  • E2: Moisture-resistant/explosion-resistant enclosure.
• Materials: Electropolished stainless steel sheath and passivated stainless steel wetted parts.

Model numbers follow the format EMTS-<kW>/<Voltage>/<Phase>, with specific suffixes required for three-phase power (e.g., "3P") and voltage designation (e.g., "208V", "240V", or "480V").

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between two primary enclosure configurations, identified by the model suffix:

• E1 (General Purpose): Models with general purpose enclosures are UL listed and CSA certified. This certification applies except for models that exceed 48 amps.
• E2 (Moisture-Resistant/Explosion-Resistant): Models designated with the E2 suffix feature moisture-resistant or explosion-resistant enclosures. These units are CSA NRTL/C certified, excluding models exceeding 48 amps.

The series also offers variations in physical dimensions and weight corresponding to wattage; for example, a 3 kW unit weighs approximately 2 kg (5 lb), while an 18 kW configuration may weigh up to 5 kg (12 lb) depending on the specific length variant selected.
