Supported Applications

The Omega SP-006-Series Smart Pressure Probe is a low-cost smart pressure sensor designed for monitoring and control of gas, liquid, and vapor pressures. The series functions as an edge controller with autonomous decision-making capabilities, featuring integrated alarm and control logic alongside secure authentication and password protection.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The SP-006-Series measures pressure in configurations ranging from 1 psi (6.89 kPa) to 250 psi (1724 kPa), available as Gauge or Absolute types. Accuracy is specified at ±0.5% full-scale with a resolution of 0.1. The device operates within an ambient temperature range of -10 to 80°C and carries an IP50 environmental rating.

Internal sensor monitoring provides temperature data across the same operating range (-10 to 80°C) with ±1.5°C accuracy and 0.1°C resolution. The probe is powered by a battery supply of 2.8 V DC - 3.3 V DC (two alkaline C cells when used with the IF-006 interface). Storage temperature limits are defined as -40 to 85°C at less than 95% RH, non-condensing.

Pressure ratings allow for an absolute maximum of 1.5 times full-scale for each range; a caution note specifies not to exceed 500 psi.

Configuration Options

The series features an all stainless-steel body and housing with wetted materials in Stainless Steel. The standard process connection is 1/4-18 NPT Male, though the series supports various other male and female pressure ports including 1/8-27 NPT, 1/4-18 NPT Female, BSPP 1/8 B, BSPP 1/4 B, 7/16-20 UNF, 9/16-18 UNF, and M12x1.5.

Electrical connectivity is provided via an M12 8-Pin Male Connector supporting the following functions:

• DIO 0 (Discrete I/O Signal 0)
• INTR (Interrupt Signal)
• SCL (I2C Clock Signal)
• SDA (I2C Data Signal)
• Shield Ground
• DIO 1 (Discrete I/O Signal 1)
• GND (Power Ground)
• 3.3VDD (Power Supply)

The probe includes two discrete open-drain digital outputs capable of driving relays or physical alarms, with a maximum current of 200 mA and V_MAX of 30 V DC. Digital inputs support thresholds up to 30 V DC.

Key Product Differences

The SP-006-Series is configurable via Omega Link Smart Interfaces using SYNC configuration software for selective data extraction, measurement traceability, local alarms, and adaptive transmission rates. The series supports storage of 10,000+ sample data points and events.

Connectivity options include:

• USB (IF-001): Wired USB Smart Interface.
• Modbus (IF-002): Wired RS485/Modbus Smart Interface.
• Wireless (IF-006): Long-range wireless capability available in 915 MHz (-NA) and 868 MHz (-EU) variants. The IF-006 must be paired with an Omega Link wireless gateway.

The series is compatible with the Omega Enterprise Gateway and SYNC configuration software. Accessories include shielded T-Splitters (M12.8-T-SPLIT), field install connectors, and dual M12-8 cables in 1m, 3m, and 5m lengths available as straight or right-angle terminators.
