Series-3400

Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series 3400 Smart Pressure Transmitter is a microprocessor-based instrument designed for measuring gauge pressure, vacuum pressure, and absolute pressure. The series supports service with compatible gases, steam, liquids, or vapors, including corrosive substances.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series 3400 delivers an accuracy of ±0.075% FS (@ 20°C) and a stability of ≤0.075% FSO/3 years. The transmitter features automatic ambient temperature compensation with a thermal effect of <±0.05% span/10°C.

Operating limits are defined as follows:

• Ambient Temperature: -40 to 185°F (-40 to 85°C)
• Process Temperature (with Diaphragm Seal): -40 to 400°F (-40 to 204.4°C)

The device offers a programmable response time of 16 to 480 ms and supports damping times from 0 to 60 s. Rangeability allows for up to 100:1 turn down depending on the selected measuring range.

The Series 3400 is configurable across multiple dimensions including housing material, process connections, and hazardous location approvals.

Housing & Enclosure

• Housing Material: High pressure cast aluminum alloy lacquered with chemical-resistant oxide enamel or stainless steel 1.4401 (316).
• Enclosure Rating: NEMA 4X IP66/IP67.

Sensor & Wetted Materials

• Wetted Materials: Sensing module and connectors are constructed from SS 1.4404 (316L). Diaphragm seals utilize SS 1.4404/1.4435 (316L).
• Filling Fluid: Silicone oil; inactive liquid is used for oxygen measurement applications.

Electrical & Communication

• Output Signal: 4-20 mA with optional HART® rev.5.1 communication.
• Power Supply: Normal operation requires 10 to 55 VDC; Intrinsically safe (Exi) versions require 10.5 to 30 VDC; Explosion proof (Exd) versions require 13.5 to 45 VDC.
• Load Resistance: Operation: 0 to 1500 Ω; HART® communication requires a minimum of 240 Ω and maximum of 1100 Ω.

Hazardous Location Approvals

The transmitter can be configured with -IS or -FP suffixes for hazardous locations:

• ATEX Compliant: II 2G Ex ia/db IIC T6/T5 Gb Ta<80°C, T5 / II 2D Ex ia/tb IIIC T85°C/T100°C Db (Type Certificate No. KDB 17ATEX0056X).
• IECEx Compliant: Ex ia/db IIC T6/T5 Gb / Ex ia/tb IIIC T85°C/T100° Db (Certificate of Conformity IECEx KDB 17.0008X).

Key Product Differences

The Series 3400 is distinguished from the related Series 3500 by its process connection and rangeability specifications.

• Series 3400: Features a standard 1/2" male or female NPT process connection. It supports measurement ranges up to 100:1 turn down for specific high-pressure configurations (e.g., 0 to 350 psia, 0 to 1000 psi).
• Series 3500: Utilizes a 1/4" female NPT process connection. Rangeability is typically up to 25:1 turn down for differential and low-pressure ranges.

The Series 3400 model number structure allows selection of housing type, measuring range code (e.g., -01 through -89), process connection style, electrical connection options, diaphragm seal types, flange configurations, capillary lengths, and extension lengths.
