The Dwyer Series IPV Single Impact Air Hammer is designed to smooth flow and prevent material accumulation inside containers. The series focuses impact on a limited target, minimizing effects on surrounding equipment. It is often applied to pipes or clean elbows in tanks filled with humidity or low specific gravity materials.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series IPV operates within a supply pressure range of 43.5 to 87 psi (3 to 6 bar). The temperature limit is specified as 212°F (100°C). Noise levels for the series fall between 60 and 75 dBA.
Configuration Options
The series includes four models—IPV-1, IPV-2, IPV-3, and IPV-4—each with distinct impulse ratings, air consumption values, weights, and dimensions. The housing is constructed from high strength aluminum.
- Impulse: Ranges from .225 lbf·s (1.0 N·S) on the IPV-1 to 2.81 lbf·s (12.5 N·S) on the IPV-4.
- Air Consumption per stroke: Varies by model from 1.71 in³ (0.028 l) for the IPV-1 up to 27.8 in³ (0.455 l) for the IPV-4.
- Weight: Models weigh between 2.43 lb (1.1 kg) and 18.52 lb (8.4 kg).
Process connections differ by model size:
- IPV-1, IPV-2, IPV-3: Feature a 1/4" BSPT female connection with a 1/4" OD push to connect adapter.
- IPV-4: Features a 3/8" BSPT female connection with a 3/8" OD push to connect adapter.
All models include a muffler for the exhaust port. The unit contains an internal magnet and spring mechanism that separates upon activation by inlet air pressure exceeding magnetic force, delivering impact power before returning automatically to the initial position.

- IPV-1: Overall length A of 5.43" (138 mm); impulse .225 lbf·s.
- IPV-2: Overall length A of 6.54" (166 mm); impulse .630 lbf·s.
- IPV-3: Overall length A of 8.19" (208 mm); impulse 1.66 lbf·s.
- IPV-4: Overall length A of 10.56" (269 mm); impulse 2.81 lbf·s; utilizes a larger 3/8" connection compared to the smaller models.
The Series IPV is not field serviceable and should be returned for repair if needed, as attempting field repairs may void the warranty.
