Supported Applications

The Isensix Series Sensor Assembly provides environmental and process monitoring capabilities for temperature, humidity, gas concentration, motion, pressure, binary state, current, and blood culture incubation chamber applications. Documented use cases include refrigerators, freezers, ultra-low temperature storage, room environments, incubators (including gel incubators), heat blocks, water baths, cryogenic liquid nitrogen storage, carbon dioxide monitoring, oxygen monitoring, horizontal motion detection, differential pressure measurement in air, door access verification, and 4-20 mA current sensing.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series supports a broad envelope of process conditions defined by specific sensor types. Temperature ranges span from -200°C to 15°C for cryogenic and ultra-low applications up to 105°C for high-temperature water baths, with intermediate coverage for refrigerators (-45°C to 15°C), freezers (-90°C to -45°C), room environments (10°C to 50°C), incubators (10°C to 50°C), and heat blocks (10°C to 50°C). Accuracy specifications vary by sensor type: ± 0.5°C for most temperature sensors, ± 1°C for liquid nitrogen applications, ± 2% for humidity and carbon dioxide, ± 3% for oxygen, ±1 MPM for horizontal motion, and ±0.25 of H2O pressure for differential pressure.

Media compatibility is application-specific: refrigerators utilize a medium of 70% Glycerin/30% water; freezers use 100% alcohol (propanol); ultra-low temperature sensors operate in 100% alcohol (propanol); high-temperature sensors are designed for Water Bath Solution; liquid nitrogen sensors interface with Liquid Nitrogen; gel incubator sensors accommodate Gel Cartridges; and room, humidity, motion, pressure, and binary state sensors typically interact with Air or fluid. The manufacturer notes that the medium listed is a recommendation only, and actual selection remains the user's responsibility in accordance with safety policies.

Configuration Options

The Series Sensor Assembly offers configurable sensor elements to address distinct measurement needs within the Guardian Monitoring System ecosystem. Available product codes include:

  • Temperature Sensors: RE (Refrigerator), SC (Ultra-Low Temperature), RM-S, RM-L, RM-H, and RM-G (Room/Incubator/Gel variants), TC (High Temperature/Water Bath), TMC (Liquid Nitrogen).
  • Humidity Sensors: HU-S and HU-L for room and incubator environments.
  • Gas Concentration Sensors: CO2 (0% to 20%) and O2 (0% to 25%).
  • Motion & Pressure Sensors: MPM (Horizontal Motion up to 120 movements per minute) and DP (Differential Pressure).
  • Specialized Interfaces: BTTP (Blood Culture Incubation Chamber Temperature), DA (Door Access/Binary State), BIN (Binary State), and 420 (4-20 mA Current).

The system integrates with the Guardian Collection Point via a probe inserted into a buffering solution within a bottle, secured by a bottle holder. The collection point connects wirelessly to an Access Point which communicates over Ethernet.

Key Product Differences

Variants in this series are distinguished primarily by their measurement type and specific range envelope rather than housing or output signal differences within the sensor assembly itself. For example, the RE product code is designated for refrigerators with a -45°C to 15°C range using glycerin/water media, while SC covers ultra-low temperatures from -90°C to -45°C in alcohol media. Humidity sensors (HU-S/HU-L) and gas sensors (CO2/O2) provide distinct measurement types not covered by the temperature variants. The series also includes specialized codes for motion detection (MPM), pressure differentials (DP), and binary state verification (DA, BIN). All sensor assemblies are designed to interface with the Guardian Collection Point using 12-pin male and female connectors.
