Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series CCS Self-Powered Current Switches are designed for monitoring the operating status of fans, pumps, and motors. These switches provide a visual confirmation that current is flowing through the core via LED indicators. The series supports both new installations using solid core models and existing installations where split core models can be installed without disconnecting cables.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series CCS operates within an ambient temperature range of -22 to 158°F (-30 to 70°C) and a humidity rating of 0 to 95% (non-condensing). The measurement range covers 0 to 200 A AC with a frequency response from 40 to 400 Hz. As self-powered devices, they require no external power supply. Electrical isolation is rated at 2000 V.

Output capabilities vary by model configuration:

  • Dry contact output: 0.3 A @ 135 VAC/DC
  • Non-dry contact models: 1 A @ 240 VAC

The housing is constructed from ABS plastic with a UL 94 V-0 flammability rating.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable options across core type, set point adjustability, and output signal types to accommodate specific monitoring needs. Models are available in solid core or split core configurations. Set points can be fixed or adjustable; adjustable models utilize a potentiometer for easy adjustment.

Core Configurations

  • Solid core: Requires cable disconnection for installation.
  • Split core: Allows installation on existing cables without disconnecting power.

Set Point Options

  • Fixed set points are available with specific thresholds (e.g., 0.5 A, 1.0 A).
  • Adjustable set points allow the user to configure the threshold using a potentiometer.

Output and Indicator Types

  • Dry contact outputs are available on select models for switching applications up to 0.3 A @ 135 VAC/DC.
  • Non-dry contact outputs support loads up to 1 A @ 240 VAC.
  • LED indicators provide visual status: Red indicates current flow; Red/green LEDs are available on adjustable models.

The series holds CE and cULus approvals. Electrical connections utilize two screw terminals compatible with ring or fork type terminals.

Key Product Differences

Six distinct model numbers define the Series CCS envelope, differentiated by core style, set point logic, and output capability:

  • CCS-121050: Solid core, Fixed set point (0.5 A ±0.2), Red LED, Dry contact output.
  • CCS-111100: Solid core, Adjustable set point (Minimum 1.0 A ±0.2), Red/green LED, No dry contact output.
  • CCS-221100: Split core, Fixed set point (1.0 A ±0.2), Red LED, Dry contact output.
  • CCS-211150: Split core, Adjustable set point (Minimum 1.5 A ±0.2), Red/green LED, No dry contact output.
  • CCS-131100: Solid core, Adjustable set point (Minimum 1.0 A ±0.2), Red/green LED, Dry contact output.
  • CCS-231150: Split core, Adjustable set point (Minimum 1.5 A ±0.2), Red/green LED, Dry contact output.
