Supported Applications

The Omega PR-22 Series consists of RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) probes featuring molded M12 connectors. These sensors are designed for temperature measurement applications requiring Pt100 elements with IEC Class A or Class B accuracy specifications.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The PR-22 series supports distinct process and ambient operating ranges based on the selected accuracy class:

  • Class A Standard Probe Temperature Range: -30 to 350°C (-22 to 622°F)
  • Class B Probe Temperature Range: -50 to 500°C (-58 to 932°F)

The connector temperature range is specified as -50 to 90°C (-58 to 194°F). Accuracy values are defined as ±0.15°C @ 0°C for Class A and ±0.30°C @ 0°C for Class B.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable dimensions, sensor elements, and electrical connections to accommodate various installation requirements.

Sensor Elements & Accuracy Classes

  • Pt100 Sensors: Available in IEC Class A or IEC Class B accuracy configurations.
  • Model Numbering: The letter "A" denotes Class A, while changing this to "B" indicates a Class B element (e.g., PR-22-3-100-B).

Probe Dimensions & Materials

  • Sheath Material: 316 Stainless Steel.
  • Diameters (Imperial): 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 inch options are available for the Standard series.
  • Diameters (Metric): 2 mm (M2), 3 mm (M3), and 6 mm (M6) probe diameters. Note: M2 is only available in 150 mm and 250 mm lengths.
  • Probe Lengths: Standard series offers 6", 9", 12", 18", and 24" insertion lengths. Metric series options include 100, 150, 250, 350, 500, 750, and 1000 mm.

Electrical Connection & Accessories

  • Connector Type: Molded 4-pin M12 connector with an IP67 enclosure rating.
  • Extension Cables: Optional extension cables, such as the M12C-SIL-4-R-F-1.5 model, are available separately to extend reach from the probe tip.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the PR-22 series differ primarily by accuracy class (Class A vs. Class B), sensor element resistance (Pt100 or Pt1000 as indicated in model numbers like PR-22-3-1000-A), and dimensional specifications.

  • Accuracy Selection: Models with "A" in the designation provide IEC Class A accuracy, while models designated with "B" offer IEC Class B accuracy. Pricing for Class B variants is available via omega.com/pr-22.
  • Diameter Constraints: The 2 mm (M2) diameter option is restricted to specific lengths of 150 mm and 250 mm, whereas other diameters support the full range of standard insertion lengths.

I am using this probe in a Saline solution and seeing corrosion after a few weeks, is the 316 SS passivated? Also, is there a coating that can be applied to this sensor to make it less susceptible to corrasion? PN: PR-22-3-100-A-M2-250-M12

Asked by: dmbenmcc
Thank you for the inquiry. Please forward this request to TEMP@OMEGA.COM. We will assist you in finding cause for corrosion. best regards OMEGA

PR-22-3-100-A-1/8-0600-M12: (1) part # compress.fitting w/ 1/8NPT male? (2) probe min. immersion lg.? (3) is the insertion lg. adjustable, i.e. can compress.fitting be installed at any location along probe tube (plan to install.on different pipe sizes)?

Asked by: Catalin
The minimum insertion length for RTD's is 2" and yes you can place a compression fitting along the length of the probe to adjust the depth.

What is the sensitivity (alpha in units of Ohms per degrees Celsius) for this model?

Asked by: RTDalpha
For the RTD Class A, Class A = ±(0.15 + 0.002*t)°C or 100.00 ±0.06 Ω at 0ºC

Is this probe bendable?

Asked by: sfb8
The PR-22 are not bendable so look to the PR-26 if you need a bendable RTD probe.

What are the 0-100C response times in water for this sensor? 50%, 63%, 90% etc.?

Asked by: RobW
Hi RobW, Thank you for the inquiry. Response times will be comparable to the PR-21 series. https://www.omega.com/en-us/temperature-measurement/temperature-probes/probes-with-integral-connectors/pr-21/p/PR-21A-3-100-1-3-M6-0150-M12-1 Fast Response Time (3.5 Seconds or Less 63% Response in Water). Response to near 100% would be 5x this value. Please contact temperature group for more details if needed. Best regards OMEGA
