Supported Applications

The ACI Platinum Immersion Series (No Well) provides temperature sensing for HVAC and room monitoring applications. These sensors are designed to be installed into an existing thermowell or a separately ordered machined/welded thermowell, featuring a standard ½ in NPT process thread connection. The series is specified for use with Air/Gas/Steam and Water media; the documentation explicitly notes that Glycol or other chemicals are not supported.

ACI recommends these sensors for integration with building management systems (BMS) or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). When used in a 3-Wire configuration, the third wire compensates for external lead wire resistance affecting sensor output. The series utilizes ACI's double encapsulation process to eliminate moisture effects and increase thermal response times.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The sensors operate within a measurement range of -40 °C to 200 °C (-40 °F to 392 °F). Ambient operating temperature is rated from -40 °C to 85 °C (-40 °F to 185 °F), with storage conditions matching this ambient range. Humidity tolerance is specified as 10 % to 95 % RH, non-condensing.

Performance accuracy follows Class A standards: ± 0.15 °C + (0.002 * |t|) where |t| is the absolute value of Temperature above or below 0 °C in °C. Specific tolerance points include:

  • -40 °C (-40 °F): ± 0.23 °C (± 0.414 °F)
  • 0 °C (32 °F): ± 0.15 °C (± 0.27 °F)
  • 200 °C (392 °F): ± 0.55°C (± 1.00 °F)

The nominal response time is 8 seconds for a 63 % step change. The probe diameter measures 6.35 mm (0.25 in). Electrical connections utilize Etched Teflon (PTFE) Colored Leads per Mil Spec 16878/4 Type E with Silver Plated Copper connectors.
