Supported Applications

The Rotronic HP3x-Series (including models HP31, HP32, and HP-GTS) consists of handheld instruments designed to measure relative humidity (%rh), temperature, and a suite of calculated psychrometric parameters. The series is utilized for spot measurements and interval data logging in applications including HVAC, building management, agriculture/food processing, and pharmaceuticals.

These devices perform calculations for Dew/Frost point (Dp/Fp), Wet bulb temperature (Tw), Enthalpy (H), Vapor concentration (Dv), Specific humidity (Q), Mixing ratio by weight (R), Vapor pressure (E), Saturation vapor pressure (Ew), and Saturation vapor density (SVD) using the WMO Standard calculation method.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The HP31 model with its fixed probe operates within an application range of -10...60 °C and 0...100 %rh (non-condensing). The handheld unit itself has a storage temperature limit of -10...45 °C at 10...90 %rh. Accuracy for the HP31 is specified as ±2 %rH / ±0.3 °C at 23°C.

The HP32 model supports interchangeable probes, extending performance capabilities based on the selected sensor:

• Standard and High Precision Probes (HC2A-S/SH): Application range of -50...100 °C. Accuracy is ±0.8 %rh / ±0.1 K at 10...30 °C for Standard probes, or ±0.5 %rh at 10...90 %rh and ±0.1 K at 10...30 °C for High Precision probes.
• High Temperature Probe (HC2-HK25): Application range of -100...200 °C with an accuracy of ±0.8 %rh / ±0.2 K at 10...30 °C.
• Insertion Probes (HC2-P05, HC2-P28, HC2-P50): Application range of -40...85 °C with an accuracy of ±0.8/1.5 %rh and ±0.1/0.3 K at 10...30 °C.

All models feature a display refresh rate typical of 1 s, support logging intervals from 1 s to 24 h, and include memory capacity for 8 x 8000 data points (64,000 total). The integrated Lithium polymer battery provides approximately 48 hours of operation when logging every 30 seconds with the screen off, or 10 hours with the screen always on.

Configuration Options

The series offers distinct configurations based on probe integration and connectivity:

• Housing & Protection: All models feature an ABS/TPR enclosure rated IP65. Dimensions are 160 x 63 x 30 mm with a weight of 185 g.
• Probe Configuration: The HP31 and HP-GTS include fixed probes. The HP32 requires separate ordering of compatible HC2 or HC2A-S series probes (except HC2-LDP).
• Data Interface & Software: Devices connect via a Micro-USB port (HP31/HP-GTS) or USB-C to USB-A cable (HP32). They are compatible with HygroSoft software for data analysis, firmware updates, and time synchronization.
• Alarms & Display: The series includes visual and audible alarms. Functions include spot measurements, interval logging, and MIN/MAX/AVG calculations.

Available accessories include soft cases, belt buckle sets with lanyards, calibration devices (ER-15), humidity standards (EA35-SCS), extension cables (E2-02A 2 m), and specific probe configurations for high temperature or insertion applications.

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction within the series is between fixed-probe units and modular handhelds:

• HP31: A standalone unit with a built-in, non-removable probe. It covers -10...60 °C / 0...100 %rh (non-condensing) with ±2 %rH / ±0.3 °C accuracy.
• HP-GTS: Similar to the HP31, this model features a fixed probe and shares identical application ranges and accuracy specifications of -10...60 °C / 0...100 %rh (non-condensing) with ±2 %rH / ±0.3 °C.
• HP32: A modular handheld device that does not include a probe by default; it requires the separate purchase of HC2 or HC2A series probes to function. This configuration allows for expanded temperature ranges (down to -100°C with specific high-temperature probes) and higher accuracy options depending on the selected sensor.
