Supported Applications
The Omega FTB790 Series consists of FLOMEC® G2 Industrial Grade turbine flow meters designed for liquid flow measurement. The series is engineered to monitor clean fluids, plant process water, chemical feed lines, and industrial fluids including plating solutions, ammonium, fuel products, sulfuric acid, bleach, batching blends, food and beverage processing streams, and water.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The FTB790 Series operates within a process temperature range of -40° F to 250° F (-40° C to 121° C) and an ambient temperature range of -20° F to 180° F (-28° C to 82° C). Storage temperatures are specified from 0° F to +129° F (-18° C to +54° C). The meters feature a modular design with IP65 enclosure ratings and utilize AAA Alkaline batteries providing an estimated life of 2 years.
Accuracy varies by model size and configuration. For turbine-only configurations, accuracy is ± 2.0% for the 1/2" (Model 05), ± 1.5% for Models 3/4" (07) and 1" (10), and ± 1.0% for Models 1-1/2" (15) and 2" (20). When equipped with onboard computer electronics, accuracy improves to ± 1.5% for Model 05, ± 1.0% for Models 07 and 10, and ± 0.75% for Models 15 and 20. Repeatability is specified as ± 0.1%, with PVDF models rated at ± 0.3%. The series supports flow rates ranging from 1 - 10 GPM (3.8 - 38 L/min) up to 20 - 200 GPM (76 - 760 L/min), depending on the model size.
Pressure ratings are material-dependent: Stainless Steel 316 SS housings support 1,500 psi (102 bar); Aluminum supports 300 psi (21 bar); and PVDF supports 100 psi (6.9 bar). ANSI Flange 316 SS pressure is governed by flange rules, while Sanitary Flange 316 SS limits depend on fitting, clamp size, and temperature.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable housing materials including 316 Stainless Steel for water and chemical products, Aluminum for fuels and petroleum-based fluids, and PVDF (available in 1/2" and 1" sizes) for aggressive chemicals. Wetted components vary by material: Stainless Steel models feature a Tungsten Carbide shaft, 96% Alumina Oxide Ceramic bearings, and a PVDF rotor; PVDF housings include 98% Alumina Ceramic bearings/shafts and Fluorocarbon rings (optional PTFE).
Process connections are available in NPT or ISO (Female) BSPT (ISO 7 designation is RC). Additional fitting options include 150# ANSI Flange (available on S10, S15, and S20 only) and Tri-Clamp fittings (Stainless Steel models only; sizes range from Model 05 to 20). Note that the fitting size is one size larger than the meter size.
Electronic configurations include onboard computer electronics with a local display showing rate of flow calibrated in gallons or liters, along with two totals: Batch Total (resettable) and Total (non-resettable). The meters are field calibratable with non-volatile memory. Accessory modules allow signal export to other equipment.
Approvals include CE, ATEX, NEMA 4, FM APPROVED US, IEC, and IECEx for specific sensor configurations. Accessories such as the 120077-01 (FM Approved Sensor), 120077-02 (ATEX Approved Sensor), 90° Display Adaptor Kit, and Remote Kits are available.
Model Number Configuration
The model number follows the format: G2 - <TURBINE MATERIAL> - <TURBINE SIZE> - <FITTING TYPE> - <ELECTRONIC CHOICE> - <CALIBRATION OF COMPUTER / DISPLAY> - <PACKAGING>. Key codes include:
- Turbine Material: S (Stainless Steel), A (Aluminum), P (PVDF for 1/2" and 1" only).
- Turbine Size: 05 (½ in.), 07 (¾ in.), 10 (1 in.), 15 (1-½ in.), 20 (2 in.).
- Fitting Type: N (NPT Female), I (ISO/BSPT Female), F (150# ANSI Flange for S10, S15, S20 only), T (Tri-Clamp).
- Electronic Choice: Q9 (Q9 2-Button Computer), Q1 (Vertical Mount with 90° Adapter), XX (No Electronics - Turbine Only).
Filtration Requirements
To ensure accuracy, the series requires filtration based on model size. For Models ½ in., ¾ in., and 1 in., maximum particulate size is limited to 0.005 inches (125 µm / No. 120 Mesh). For Models 1-½ in. and 2 in., the limit is 0.018 inches (500 µm / No. 35 Mesh).
Key Product Differences
The FTB790 Series distinguishes itself through housing material selection tailored to fluid compatibility: Aluminum for fuels, Stainless Steel for general water and chemical applications, and PVDF for aggressive chemicals in smaller sizes (½" and 1"). Electronic options range from turbine-only units requiring external signal processing to fully integrated models with onboard Q9 or Q1 computers providing local rate and totalization displays. The series supports both standard threaded connections (NPT/ISO) and sanitary/flanged configurations, though ANSI flanges are restricted to larger stainless steel sizes (S10, S15, S20), while Tri-Clamp fittings are available across all stainless steel model sizes.
Accuracy performance is tiered by size and electronics; the ½" turbine-only unit offers ± 2.0% accuracy compared to ± 1.5% with onboard computer electronics, whereas larger models (1-½" and 2") achieve ± 1.0% without electronics and improve to ± 0.75% when equipped with computers.

Can this meter be used with MIL-H-5606 hydraulic oil?
Thank you for your inquiry. This flow meter is designed for thin fluids < 100 cP
Date published: 2023-05-16
Will this meter work in the ranges of 2 liters per min to 6 liters per min?
Unfortunately no. The minimum flow rate that this flowmeter will measure accurately is 3.8 LPM.
Date published: 2023-08-25
What are the allowable mounting orientations? Vertical / flow up, vertical / flow down, horizontal?
Thank you for your inquiry about the inline flow meter. The orientation can be mounted in any position, yet, in a vertical position, the flow must go from floor to ceiling and must be full of flow at all times.

can these be utilized with nozzles?
The FTB791 requires a laminar flow in order to work properly. You cannot mount this sensor right before a nozzle. This sensor needs a straight pipe before and after the sensor. The FTB791 needs at least 15 inches of straight pipe before and 10 inches after the sensor. Please contact our Tech Support or flow@omega.com so we can fully understand your application to further advise as you need. Thank you!
