Supported Applications

The Omega THX-700 series consists of Quick Disconnect Thermistor Probes designed for use with the heavy-duty HDX handle. These probes feature a precision 44018 linear thermistor element and are compatible with all readout instruments designed for Series 700 probes. The series supports air, immersion, penetration, and HVAC applications.

Documented application areas include:

  • General Purpose Probe (THX-700-GP): Gas and liquid immersion measurements.
  • Penetration Probe (THX-700-NP): Soft and semi-frozen material, soil, and sand.
  • Air Probe (THX-700-AP): HVAC applications; designed to fit into duct-work, grilles, and vents with a small diameter sheath and radiation hood.

Custom assemblies are available upon request through Custom Engineering.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The THX-700 series operates within a temperature range of -50°C to 100°C (-58°F to 212°F). The probes utilize a retractable coil cord and feature an aluminum die-cast handle. Wetted parts are constructed from 304 stainless steel.

Key performance parameters include:

  • Sensor Element: Precision 44018 linear thermistor.
  • Operating Temperature: Up to 100°C (212°F).
  • Sheath Diameter: 3.1 mm (1/8") OD for General Purpose and Penetration probes; small diameter sheath with radiation hood for Air Probe.

Configuration Options

The series offers three primary configurations distinguished by probe type, each featuring a 3-prong OTP-copper connector termination. The standard stem length is 3 m (10'). OMEGALOK® compression fittings are available as an option for permanent mounting.

  • THX-700-GP-12: General Purpose Probe with a 3.1 mm (1/8") OD 304 stainless steel sheath, rated for gas and liquid immersion.
  • THX-700-NP-12: Penetration Probe with a 3.1 mm (1/8") OD 304 stainless steel sheath, designed for soft materials, soil, and sand.
  • THX-700-AP-12: Air Probe featuring a small diameter sheath and radiation hood for HVAC duct-work, grilles, and vents.

The model number guide follows the format THX-700-<TYPE>-12. Series 700 probes are available in many other configurations beyond these standard variants.
