Supported Applications

The Omega EchoPro® LR36 is an intrinsically safe, two-wire pulse radar level transmitter designed for continuous measurement of dry solid media. The series targets applications involving aggregates, grains, pellets, powders, and building materials in environments with minimal dust. Typical installation contexts include bins, transfer stations, and crushers.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The LR36 operates at a frequency of 26 GHz with an accuracy of ±10mm. It supports measurement ranges from 12' to 49.2' (30cm to 15m) and features a dead band of 12" (30cm), which is factory-set but can be lowered to 2" from the bottom of the antenna. The sensor provides an LCD dot matrix display showing feet, meters, percent of span, or echo signal curves.

Process temperature limits are F: -40° to 392°, C: -40° to 200°. Storage temperatures range from F: -40° to 176°, C: -40° to 80°. The unit carries an IP67 enclosure rating and is rated for pressures of -14.5 to 580 psi (-1 to 40 bar) on specific configurations, or atmospheric pressure on others.

Configuration Options

The LR36 series offers configurable mounting options and signal outputs tailored to process requirements:

• Housing & Materials: The enclosure is constructed from 316L stainless steel with a silicone gasket. Wetted materials include 316L stainless steel, Viton®, Silicone (between housing and cap), Polycarbonate window, and Stainless Steel ground terminal.
• Process Connections: Available in 1-1/2" NPT or 4" gimbal flange (ANSI). The LR36 model specifically supports these connections; other models in the EchoPro family may support larger flanges not listed for this specific series code.
• Electrical & Output: Powered by a supply voltage of 21.6 to 26.4 VDC with maximum consumption of 22.5 mA. The output signal is 4-20 mA, two-wire, HART 7, configurable for invert (4-20 mA or 20-4 mA) and fail-safe modes at 3.9 mA, 20.5 mA, or 22 mA.
• Configuration: Configurable via an integral push button display module or HART communicator with non-volatile memory.

Key Product Differences

The LR36 is distinguished within the EchoPro family by its specific measurement range and application focus. While the broader manual covers models up to 70m (LR41, LR46), the LR36 data sheet defines this series for ranges up to 49.2' (15m) with an 8° beam angle using a 4" horn antenna.

Ordering variations are defined by mount type and size codes:

• Mount Type Code 0: NPT thread
• Mount Type Code 3: ANSI flange
• Mount Size Code 0: 1-1/2" NPT (compatible with Mount Type 0)
• Mount Size Code 4: 4" gimbal flange (compatible with Mount Type 3)

The series supports optional accessories including the LR97-S006 mounting bracket for specific installations, the LI24-1001 DATALOOP™ Intrinsically Safe Level Indicator, and a Push Button Display Module.
