Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series PTV Pneumatic Turbine Vibrators are designed for high vibration frequency applications in low noise environments. The series is typically installed on vibrating separators, conveyors, automatic arrangement machines, packing machines, and filling machines.

Operating Conditions & Performance

Vibration is generated by centrifugal force resulting from the imbalance of movement when compressed air impacts the turbine tangent. Ball bearing supports maintain low operation noise levels between 60 to 75 dBA. The series operates within a supply pressure range of 29 to 87 psi (2 to 6 bar) and has an ambient temperature limit of 212°F (100°C).

Performance varies by model and input pressure, with frequencies ranging from 12,000 V.P.M. on the PTV-5 at 29 psi (2 bar) to 37,500 V.P.M. on the PTV-1 at 87 psi (6 bar). Force output ranges from 189 lbf (840 N) for the PTV-1 at 29 psi (2 bar) up to 1,695 lbf (7,540 N) for the PTV-6 at 87 psi (6 bar).

• PTV-1: Frequencies of 27,500 V.P.M. (29 psi), 35,000 V.P.M. (58 psi), and 37,500 V.P.M. (87 psi); Force up to 540 lbf (2,400 N) at 87 psi.
• PTV-2: Frequencies of 26,000 V.P.M. (29 psi), 30,000 V.P.M. (58 psi), and 33,000 V.P.M. (87 psi); Force up to 839 lbf (3,730 N) at 87 psi.
• PTV-3: Frequencies of 17,000 V.P.M. (29 psi), 21,500 V.P.M. (58 psi), and 24,000 V.P.M. (87 psi); Force up to 710 lbf (3,160 N) at 87 psi.
• PTV-4: Frequencies of 17,000 V.P.M. (29 psi), 20,000 V.P.M. (58 psi), and 23,000 V.P.M. (87 psi); Force up to 1,241 lbf (5,520 N) at 87 psi.
• PTV-5: Frequencies of 12,000 V.P.M. (29 psi), 15,500 V.P.M. (58 psi), and 17,000 V.P.M. (87 psi); Force up to 1,140 lbf (5,070 N) at 87 psi.
• PTV-6: Frequencies of 13,000 V.P.M. (29 psi), 14,000 V.P.M. (58 psi), and 16,000 V.P.M. (87 psi); Force up to 1,695 lbf (7,540 N) at 87 psi.

Configuration Options

The series features an aluminum housing and includes a muffler for the exhaust port. Air connections vary by model size:

• PTV-1: 1/8" BSPT female with 1/4" OD push to connect adapter.
• PTV-2, PTV-3, PTV-4, and PTV-5: 1/4" BSPT female with 1/4" OD push to connect adapter.
• PTV-6: 3/8" BSPT female with 3/8" OD push to connect adapter.

Air consumption scales with model and pressure, ranging from 1.62 cfm (46 l/min) for the PTV-1 at 29 psi (2 bar) to 26.3 cfm (745 l/min) for the PTV-6 at 87 psi (6 bar).

Key Product Differences

The Series PTV is available in six distinct models: PTV-1, PTV-2, PTV-3, PTV-4, PTV-5, and PTV-6. Models differ primarily by physical dimensions, vibration frequency, force output, air consumption, and weight.

• PTV-1: Smallest footprint with overall dimension B of 3-27/64 [86.92] inches; weighs .56 lb (0.26 kg).
• PTV-2 & PTV-3: Share identical dimensions and air connections but differ in frequency, force, and weight.
• PTV-4 & PTV-5: Share identical dimensions and air connections; PTV-6 is the largest model with dimension B of 6-5/16 [160.34] inches and weighs 4.8 lb (2.2 kg).

The Series PTV is not field serviceable. Units requiring repair must be returned to Dwyer after obtaining a return good authorization number.
