Supported Applications

The Omega PRS series consists of sanitary RTD assemblies with protection heads, designed for use in Clean-In-Place (CIP) and sanitary processes. These sensors are supplied standard with 1½" 16 AMP Tri-Grip™ fittings to assemble to like-style piping connections.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series features Pt100 elements meeting IEC-60751 Class A requirements. The documented operating temperature range is -50 to 200°C (-58 to 392°F). Accuracy specifications include a tolerance of ± (0.15 + 0.002t) °C and resistance values of 100 Ω at 0°C with Class A accuracy.

Wetted surfaces utilize 316L Stainless Steel with a surface finish of 32 µin or better. The electrical connection is provided via a White Polypropylene housing (NB9W style) featuring a ¾" NPT cable connection, though optional configurations exist for different head materials.

Configuration Options

The PRS-3-100 series offers configurable dimensions and construction options to accommodate specific sanitary installation needs. Available variants include:

• Duty Configurations: Standard Duty (PRS-S-NB9W Series) with ¼" sheath diameter, or Heavy-Duty (PRS-H-NB9W Series) with ⅜" sheath diameter.
• Probe Lengths: Options include 3", 4", 5", and 6" lengths as listed in the ordering tables.
• Protection Heads: Standard White Polypropylene (NB9W) or optional large 316 SS heads (change suffix to -NB15).
• Sensor Elements: 4-wire Pt100 RTD elements are standard.

The Heavy-Duty series includes a stepped stem design with a ⅜" diameter stepping down to ⅛" at the tip and a 1¼" stem length. The Standard Duty series utilizes a uniform sheath profile.

Key Product Differences

Differences between configurations are defined by duty class, probe geometry, and protection head material:

• Standard Duty (PRS-S): Features a ¼" diameter sheath. Model numbers follow the pattern PRS-3-100-A-S-[Length]-[Element Code]-NB9W.
• Heavy-Duty (PRS-H): Features a ⅜" diameter stepped stem with a 1¼" length section at the tip. Model numbers follow the pattern PRS-3-100-A-H-[Length]-[Element Code]-NB9W.
• Housing Material: The standard NB9W suffix denotes a White Polypropylene screw cap protection head with ¾ NPT conduit connection. Changing the suffix to -NB15 specifies an optional large 316 SS screw top cap protection head for additional cost.
