Supported Applications
The Omega PX5000 Series consists of high-performance sputtered thin-film pressure transducers engineered for harsh environments requiring resistance to shock and vibration. Documented applications include automotive testing, gas turbine engines, flight testing, aircraft systems, space launch vehicles, satellites, and weapon systems.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series utilizes a 4 active-arm bridge sensing element with sputtered-deposited thin-film technology. Measurement ranges span from 0 to 15 psi up to 0 to 10,000 psi (and metric equivalents). Accuracy is specified as ±0.10% FSO for the 0-15 through 0-999 psi range and ±0.15% FSO for ranges of 1,000 psi and above. The compensated temperature range is -54° to +121°C (-65° to +250°F), with an operating process temperature limit of -54° to 150°C (-65° to 300°F).
Performance under dynamic conditions includes a natural frequency of 50 kHz for the 5,000 psi range, decreasing logarithmically to 5 kHz for the 15 psi range. The unit is qualified for shock at 100g (11 msec half sine wave) without damage and withstands vibration up to 35g peak sinusoidal from 10 Hz to 2000 Hz with output limits of 0.04% FSO/g for the 15 psi range down to 0.003% FSO/g for ranges above 1,000 psi.
Configuration Options
The PX5000 Series is configurable across pressure types, electrical connections, and calibration options:
- Pressure Types: Available in Absolute (A), Gage (G), or Sealed Gage (S) configurations.
- Ranges & Units: Ranges include 0 to 15 psi through 0 to 10,000 psi. Metric ranges are available upon consultation with engineering.
- Process Connection: Standard MS33656-4 male pressure port (Code L).
- Electrical Output & Connections: Provides mV/V output requiring 10 Vdc excitation. The standard electrical connection is a PTIH-10-6P connector or equivalent; the mating connector PTS06A-10-6S-R is sold separately.
- Materials: Wetted parts are constructed from 17-4 PH Stainless Steel or 15-5 PH Stainless Steel with all-welded construction.
- Calibration Options: Units come complete with a 5-point calibration. An optional CAL11 code provides an 11-point NIST-traceable calibration at additional cost.
Key Product Differences
The series distinguishes between pressure reference types via the model number suffix: 'A' denotes Absolute Pressure, 'G' denotes Gage Pressure, and 'S' denotes Sealed Gage Pressure. The electrical output is fixed as mV/V (Code V) across the standard configuration. Custom configurations are available for a 350 ohm bridge; otherwise, input resistance is typically 1000 ohms with an output resistance of 1000 ohms ±200 ohms.
