Supported Applications

The Omega FL50000 Series consists of panel mount variable area flowmeters designed for measuring water and air. These meters feature a rugged, one-piece machined acrylic body with stainless steel internal parts and rear inlet/outlet ports configured for vertical panel mounting. The series includes models calibrated specifically for liquid (water) or gas (air) applications.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The FL50000 Series delivers an accuracy of ±5% of full scale (FS). Process temperature limits vary by connection size: 48°C (120°F) at 0 psi for ⅜ and 1 MNPT units, and 93°C (200°F) at 0 psi for ¼, ½, and ¾ MNPT units. Pressure ratings are defined as 120 psi at 21°C (70°F) for ⅜ and 1 MNPT units, and 250 psig at 21°C (70°F) for ¼, ½, and ¾ MNPT units.

Measurement ranges span multiple scales depending on the model:

• Water Units (GPM): Ranges include 0.025 to 0.25 GPM, 0.1 to 1 GPM, 0.2 to 2 GPM, 0.5 to 5 GPM, 1 to 10 GPM, and 2 to 20 GPM.
• Water Units (LPM): Ranges include 0.1 to 1 LPM, 0.4 to 4 LPM, 0.75 to 7.5 LPM, 2 to 20 LPM, 4 to 40 LPM, and 7.5 to 75 LPM.
• Air Units (SCFM): Ranges include 0.1 to 1.2 SCFM, 0.5 to 4.5 SCFM, 1 to 7 SCFM, 2 to 20 SCFM, and 4 to 45 SCFM.

The maximum pressure drop is specified as 2 psi max for the series.

Configuration Options

The series supports various configurations through specific model numbers and optional suffixes. Key capabilities include:

• Housing & Materials: Machined acrylic body with a stainless steel float guide to reduce oscillation. Wetted materials include 316 SS (float) and FKM (O-Ring). Adaptors are PVC for ¼ and 1" sizes, while other sizes use glass-filled polypropylene.
• Process Connections: Available in MNPT thread sizes of ¼, ⅜, ½, ¾, and 1 inch.
• Adjustable Valve Option: Models may be ordered with an integral adjustable CPVC valve by adding the suffix "-V" to the model number (e.g., FL50002A-V).
• NIST Calibration Option: A 5-point NIST calibration is available as an option, indicated by adding the suffix "-NIST" to the model number.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between water and air units via separate model numbering conventions. Water flowmeters follow the pattern FL5000A - <Model Number> (e.g., FL50001A through FL50007A). Air flowmeters utilize the prefix FL50250A, with model numbers such as FL50251A through FL50255A. Physical dimensions vary by model; for example, models FL50006 and FL50007 have a center-center dimension of 8" (203 mm) compared to the smaller footprint of earlier models.
