Supported Applications
The Omega ZDH Series consists of heavy-duty, flange mount rotary pulse generators designed for harsh factory and plant floor environments. These compact encoders provide motion control feedback suitable for machine control, process control, elevator controls, conveyors, textile equipment, robotics, and food processing applications.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The ZDH Series delivers high precision accuracy with mechanical tolerances of 0.017° (1.0 arc minutes) for resolutions from 200 to 1999 CPR, and 0.01° (0.6 arc minutes) for resolutions from 2000 to 3000 CPR. The sensors feature a rise time of less than 1 microsecond.
Designed for durability, the series meets NEMA 4, 13 (IP66) standards with a shaft seal and withstands shock ratings of 75 g @ 11 msec duration. Operating ambient temperature ranges from 0 to 70°C (32 to 158°F), while storage temperatures are rated from -25 to 85°C (-13 to 185°F). The units operate in humidity up to 98% RH non-condensing.
Configuration Options
The series is configured with a 51 mm (2") flange mount and features a 9.5 mm (0.375") shaft diameter. Electrical output utilizes NPN open collector transistors capable of 100 mA maximum current, providing quadrature outputs with indexing.
Key configuration parameters include:
- Pulses Per Revolution (PPR): Available in resolutions such as 100 ppr and 1000 ppr within the documented model range.
- Power Supply: Operates on a supply voltage of 4.75 to 28 Vdc, drawing a maximum of 100 mA with no output load.
- Connector Interface: Standard connection is a 7-pin MS type (MIL-C-5015). The open collector outputs require an external pull-up resistor connected from the open-collector to the positive side of an external supply; this same supply can power the unit. Output collectors may be pulled up to external voltages different than the encoder supply voltage, with a maximum of 40 Vdc.
- Index Signal: Provides a positive pulse once per revolution, centered over output channel A.
The housing features a black non-corrosive finish. Noise immunity is tested to BS EN61000-4-2; IEC801-3; BS EN61000-4-4; DDENV 50141; DDENV 50204; BS EN55022; BS EN61000-6-2; and BS EN50081-2.
Accessories
The series supports various accessories to complete the installation:
- Cables/Connectors: AU-CCBRPG00 (7-pin MS connector), AU-CCBRPG02 (with 3.05 m / 10' long 24 AWG conductor with drain), and AU-CCBRPG03 (with 6.1 m / 20' long 24 AWG conductor with drain).
- Shaft Couplings: Flexible shaft couplings, 25 mm (1") long, available in sizes: 0.250 - 0.375" (AU-RPGFC002), 0.375 - 0.375" (AU-RPGFC003), 0.375 - 0.500" (AU-RPGFC004), and 0.375" - 6 mm (AU-RPGFC006).
