Product Overview
- Series ID Series-WE08
Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series WE08 is a 2-piece NPT brass ball valve designed for gas or liquid flow control. The series features a full port design intended to minimize pressure drop and supports quick bubble-tight shut-off applications. Actuators are direct mounted, creating a compact assembly suitable for tight spaces.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series WE08 valve body is rated for compatible liquids and gases with line sizes from 1/2" to 2". Pressure limits vary by size: 1/2" to 1" models are rated at 600 psi (41 bar) WOG, while 1-1/4" to 2" models are rated at 230 psi (15 bar) WOG. The process temperature range is -20 to 425°F (-30 to 220°C). Wetted materials include a brass body, ball, and stem with PTFE seats, seals, and packing.
Actuator performance specifications depend on the type selected:
- Pneumatic Actuators (DA/SR Series): Normal supply pressure is 40 to 115 psi (2.7 to 7.9 bar) for double acting and 80 psi (5.5 bar) for spring return, with a maximum of 120 psi (8.6 bar). Ambient temperature limits are -40 to 176°F (-40 to 80°C).
- Electric Actuators (TD/MD Series): Cycle times per 90° vary by model: TD01 is 4 s, MD01 is 10 s, and TD02 is 20 s. The duty rating is 85%. Ambient temperature limits are -22 to 140°F (-30 to 60°C).
- Explosion-Proof Electric Actuators (TI/MI Series): Designed for hazardous locations Class I, Group C & D; Class II, Group E, F & G; Division I & II. Ambient temperature limits are -40 to 140°F (-40 to 60°C).
Configuration Options
The Series WE08 is configurable with hand operation or various actuator types, including electric and pneumatic options. The series supports the following configurations:
- Housing & Enclosure Ratings: Electric actuators are available in NEMA 4X (IP67) weatherproof housings or NEMA 7 explosion-proof housings with powder coated aluminum construction.
- Pneumatic Actuator Types: Double acting (DA series) uses air supply to drive the valve open and closed. Spring return (SR series, rack and pinion type) uses air to open and internally loaded springs to return the valve to a fail-safe position.
- Electric Control Modes: Two-position actuators use supply voltage to drive the valve fully open or closed. Modulating actuators accept a 4-20 mA input for precise valve positioning.
- Power Supply Options: Electric models support 110 VAC, 220 VAC, 24 VAC, and 24 VDC (MD models are not available in 24 VDC).
- Standard Features: Actuators include thermal overload protection and permanently lubricated gear trains. TD models come with two limit switches; TI/MI models feature a position indicator and two limit switches.
Available options and accessories include manual override, position indicators, various limit switches (42ADO exp, 45VDO exp, ATEX), proximity switches, smart positioners (26SER-D5, 28SER-D5), NEMA 4X NAMUR solenoids, and air filter regulators.
Key Product Differences
The series distinguishes between actuator families based on control method and environmental rating:
- TD/MD Series (Electric): Weatherproof NEMA 4X (IP67) actuators. TD models are two-position; MD models are modulating with a 4-20 mA input.
- TI/MI Series (Explosion-Proof Electric): Designed for hazardous locations meeting Class I, Group C & D and Class II, Group E, F & G requirements. TI models are two-position; MI models are modulating with a 4-20 mA input.
- DA/SR Series (Pneumatic): DA series is double acting; SR series is spring return rack and pinion. These feature anodized aluminum bodies and epoxy coated end caps.
- Hand Operated: Models include a handle with vinyl sleeve, stainless steel ferrule, and stem nut for manual control without automation.
