The Dwyer Mercoid® Series 3100 is a microprocessor-based smart differential pressure transmitter optimized for draft measurement, flow, and level applications. The series features digital communication capabilities allowing configuration via push buttons or HART® Communication using a host, handheld communicator (HHT), or PC Configurator.
Documented application contexts include:
- Draft measurement
- Flow monitoring
- Level applications
- Hazardous locations requiring explosion-proof ratings for Class I, Div I, Groups A, B, C and D
The transmitter is compatible with gases, steam, liquids, or vapors.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series 3100 utilizes a capacitance sensor with software compensation for thermal effects. Key performance specifications include:
- Accuracy: ±0.075% FS (@ 20°C)
- Response Time: 0.12 seconds
- Burst Pressure: 10,000 psi
- Pressure Rating Range: -14.5 to 2000 psi
- Process Temperature: -40 to 248°F (-40 to 120°C)
- Ambient Operating Temperature (Without LCD): -40 to 185°F (-40 to 85°C); (With LCD module: -22 to 176°F / -30 to 80°C)
- Storage Temperature: -40 to 185°F (-40 to 85°C) without LCD; -22 to 176°F (-30 to 80°C) with LCD
- Humidity Rating (Manual): 5% – 98% RH at 104°F (40°C)
The enclosure is rated NEMA 4X (IP66) and explosion-proof. The transmitter supports a power supply of 11.9 to 45 VDC with an output signal of 4 to 20 mA / HART® Communication.
Measurement Ranges
The series offers multiple calibrated spans depending on the model configuration:
- 0 to 6 in w.c. (Calibrated Span: 0.6 to 30 in w.c.)
- 0 to 30 in w.c.
- 0 to 150 in w.c. (Calibrated Span: 1.5 to 150 in w.c.)
- 0 to 750 in w.c. (Calibrated Span: 7.5 to 750 in w.c.)
- 0 to 100 psi (Calibrated Span: 1 to 100 psi)
- 0 to 300 psi (Calibrated Span: 3 to 300 psi)
- 0 to 1000 psi
The transmitter provides a rangeability of up to 100:1.
Configuration Options
The Series 3100 is configurable across several dimensions including display options, process connections, and approvals. The standard wetted material is 316L SS stainless steel.

Key Product Differences
The Series 3100 includes the Series-3100MP and Series-3100D families. The primary distinction between these series is physical dimensions:
- Series 3100MP Dimensions: Height: 7-31/32 [202.50], Width: 4-13/32 [112.00], Depth: 3-25/64 [86.00].
- Series 3100D Dimensions: Height: 7-37/64 [192.50], Width: 4-13/32 [112.00], Depth: 3-25/64 [86.00].
Both series share identical measurement ranges, accuracy specifications (±0.075% FS), and approval ratings within the documented model charts.
LCD vs. Non-LCD Models
Variants are distinguished by the presence of an LCD display:
- Non-LCD Models (e.g., 3100MP-2-FM-1-1): Do not include a local digital readout.
- LCD Models (e.g., 3100MP-2-FM-1-1-LCD): Include a 5-digit display for viewing Unit, %, mA, or Engineering units. These models have reduced ambient operating temperature limits (-22 to 176°F / -30 to 80°C) compared to non-LCD versions.
