Supported Applications
The Omega PX1005 is a sputtered thin-film pressure transducer designed specifically for cryogenic service. The series provides high performance and exceptional calibration stability, offering 0.1% stability for 18 months in environments ranging from -196 to 149°C (-320 to 300°F). Its all-welded stainless steel pressure cavity and double-isolated case ensure reliability where low temperatures are present.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The PX1005 operates across a process temperature range of -196 to 149°C (-320 to 300°F) with compensation for ambient conditions from -196 to 27°C (-320 to 80°F). Accuracy is specified as ±0.25% FSO (Combined linearity, hysteresis and repeatability), determined at 25°C ±1°C (77°F ±2°F) under open circuit conditions with rated excitation of 10 Vdc.
Thermal effects are limited to Span: ±0.01% FSO/°F and Zero: ±0.01% FSO/°F. The transducer withstands a proof pressure of 200% of rated pressure without performance changes beyond specified tolerances, with a burst pressure rating of 3 times rated pressure. Mechanical robustness includes shock resistance up to 100 g (11 ms half sine wave) and vibration sensitivity limits ranging from 0.04% FSO/g for 15 psi units down to 0.003% FSO/g for 1000 psi units at 35 g peak.
Configuration Options
The series supports multiple pressure ranges and configurations, including Absolute Pressure (standard) or Sealed Gage Pressure options. Standard measurement ranges include:
- 0 to 15 psi / 0 to 1.0 bar
- 0 to 25 psi / 0 to 1.7 bar
- 0 to 50 psi / 0 to 3.4 bar
- 0 to 100 psi / 0 to 6.9 bar
- 0 to 250 psi / 0 to 17.2 bar
- 0 to 500 psi / 0 to 34.5 bar
- 0 to 1000 psi / 0 to 68.9 bar
The sensing element utilizes a 4-active-arm bridge with sputter-deposited thin-film technology, providing an output of mV/V (30 mV nominal full range). Wetted parts are constructed from 17-4 PH vacuum melt or 15-5 PH stainless steel. The pressure port features a 7/16-20 male fitting per MS33656-4, and the electrical connection uses a PCIH0-10-6P (or equivalent) connector.
Additional specifications include:
- Input Resistance: 400 Ω nominal
- Output Resistance: 400 Ω nominal
- Insulation Resistance: 100 MΩ or greater at 50Vdc
- Natural Frequency: 35 kHz (at 1000 psi) decreasing logarithmically to 5 kHz (at 15 psi)
- Humidity Rating: Per MIL-STD-810, method 507.1
Key Product Differences
The PX1005 series is configured via a model number guide: PX1005 - <PRESSURE PORT> - <ELECTRICAL CONNECTION> - <RANGE> - <UNITS> - <OUTPUT> - <OPTIONS>. The pressure port is designated as 'L' for MS33656-4. Electrical connection code '1' specifies the PCIH0-10-6P connector (or equal); a mating connector, model PCS06E10-6S, is sold separately and noted as non-RoHS.
Pressure type variations are indicated by unit codes: 'A' denotes Absolute Pressure, while replacing 'A' with 'S' configures the transducer for Sealed Gage pressure at no extra charge. Output code 'V' specifies mV/V output. Metric ranges and other custom configurations require consultation with engineering.
